We had an incredible stay with Tito Robert and Tita Ofel! From the moment we arrived, they made us feel right at home with their warm welcome, even after our flight was canceled. They were incredibly hospitable and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. Tita Ofel's meals were absolutely delicious and we looked forward to each one throughout our stay. Tito Robert shared fascinating stories about the area during our visits to their private view deck — we learned so much! The place itself is dreamy, peaceful, and spotless. We spent our afternoons biking around the neighborhood and exploring the local area. It was the perfect blend of relaxation and adventure. We truly can’t wait to return when the chance arises, especially if we can catch a flight deal! Overall, it was more than just a stay; it was about meeting wonderful people who made our trip unforgettable. Highly recommend! Dios Mamahes!

Our stay exceeded expectations. The place was in a quiet street but very near the main road. There were small stores nearby for our needs. The rooms were big and comfortable. Each room had its own bathroom too, which we really appreciated. There was a balcony facing Mt.Iraya and we could watch the planes taking off and landing! Big plus for the kids! The common areas were also comfortable. We were able to bond as a family since we could hang out together unlike in hotels. Our hosts were so kind and helpful! Maam Agnes was always responsive whenever we had any questions or needed help. They picked us up from the airport and made us feel right at home. I definitely would recommend this place to anyone who wants to visit Batanes.

Staying in Pananayan House, on a remote Sabtang island, was a truly unique experience. Perched on the cliff, right next to the beautiful lighthouse, the guesthouse offers absolutely amazing views of the ocean, while the sound of crushing waves add to the whole atmosphere. Almost all tourists visit Sabtang with a day tour. Once they depart, the island goes back to its normal “fishing village” routine. Take your time and stay here for at least one night. There are plenty opportunities for hiking, taking great pictures and interacting with - very welcoming - local inhabitants. My big thanks go to Pending and Fafa: the couple who actually owns and runs guesthouse. They welcomed me as if I was a member of family: Pending took me on a small island tour, while Fafa prepared an excellent lobster dinner. I loved my time at Pananayan and regretted that I booked one night only.

I am reluctant to heap too much praise on Mabel's place or Batanes in general lest both be bombarded by tourists, thereby eroding the qualities that make them so special. Suffice it to say that staying at the B&B is like staying with family. Tito, Tita, and Ate Alona are some of the warmest and most gracious individuals whom I have ever had the pleasure of encountering. We will be back!
