My son and I found The Stables a lovely base from which to explore the Peak District. A 15 minute walk takes you into Hartington, with a few shops/pub/tea-coffee places and from where walks go off in various directions. Exploring different sections of the Dove river valleys, was just lovely. The house is only 20-25min drive to various towns, including Leek, Buxton, Carsington Water and Bakewell, and 45 minutes from the Hope Valley (Mam Tor). The location was really quiet and peaceful, with lovely views from the windows. The house was as described, clean and with all the necessary, including a lovely welcome of various things in the fridge to get us started. Malcolm and Dorothy maintained great communication throughout, from detailed directions for arrival and checkin as well as local information, and were available for consultation as and when needed. Would highly recommend this as a place to stay.

Amazing stay. Great location . Beautiful cottage and the bath was needed after our long walks! We loved the farm animals and the little touch of fresh eggs for when you arrive, which were delicious. Gem of a little place! We will definitely be returning. The walks we did were Roaches, Luds Church and Thors Cave. We also had a gorgeous dinner at a pub called Ye Olde Rock Inn (Old Buxton Road, Upper Hulme, Leek ST13 8TY). I had the chicken curry... was amazing!

I stayed for 10 days and had a lovely time. It was very quiet and clean, the views at the property were amazing. It wasn't too far from nearby towns such as Buxton. Overall great experience.

Amazing place, adorable building! Great renovation job! So clean and tidy, perfect little getaway!! Will definitely be booking again!
