Monthly Rentals in Tonosho, Shozu District

We had an incredible stay, and I can't wait to return! There wasn’t a single thing I could consider a flaw during my visit. The host was exceptionally professional, warm, and attentive, making our experience even better. His insightful recommendations and tips made our trip truly seamless. The place itself offered a serene, clean, and minimalist ambiance, showcasing an authentic design. Every amenity, along with the local drinks and food provided, was delightful.

Great place! Takamichi and his wife are kind and lovely people, it was so nice to meet and chat with them. The neighborhood is peaceful and we never got enough of the views of the Inland Sea. Shodoshima is rural, but there are plenty of places to explore, the bus (and Suica!) makes it easy. No need for a car. There are bike rentals, but you must set up the Hello app. We would have had to do in the US, before departing for Japan. Same with PayPay, btw. Both are well worth having. Wireless had some intermittent dropouts, nothing unsettling. 97Mps down/56Mps up, all ok for us. Excellent hot water and shower. Lots of room in the house, very traditional with tatami and futons. Good heat (we visited in February) but it is the traditional space heating, meaning some unheated areas got quite cold. We absolutely loved the gas stove. I want one! Takamichi roasts coffee and the grinder was a joy. They run a cafe next door, closed during our stay but I bet it's good. We loved it here!

If I could, I would give more stars, I absolutely loved staying at this place. It was so cosy, beautiful and homey, I actually extended my stay longer than I had planned. It's a little hard to get to and from, but it's so peaceful once you're there. It's close to the ocean and the forest, where I had some beautiful walks without much human interruption. I stayed there to work remotely for a while, and this was really the perfect setting for this. The home is very historical and absolutely beautiful, which contributed so much to my positive experience in Japan. The host was also wonderful and so helpful, always went beyond the expected to make my stay comfortable. I loved staying there, and can't wait to come back one day.

Beautiful accomodation in a quiet neighborhood, close to Ikeda port. Loved the interior design of the house, well equipped with everything we might need, and there was even a baby chair which we really appreciated! Check in and out was easy and fuss free, Takao also made sure to message us with instructions and recommendations for the island. Highly recommended, would love to stay again if I return to Shodoshima in the future.
