Susan made us feel really welcome. We had a really good stay in the little cottage for a couple of nights with our dog. Comfy and warm with just what you need as a base to explore the beautiful area. Really peaceful relaxing place.

We had the most wonderful stay at The Duck House! Everything was as described and Julia left various treats to make our welcome even more special. We had a lovely few days together as a family and are very grateful for our stay. We will definitely be back! Thank you ❤️

I had a truly great time! There was such a lovely box of treats and cereals in the kitchen as a gift when I arrived, which was incredibly helpful on my first day, as I didn’t want to go grocery shopping after travel. Alison met me at the train and walked me over, showed me everything I needed to know, and happily came back when I had confusion or questions. An absolute delight of a host! She even drove me to work at Vindolanda on my first day (as I was a visiting researcher) and pointed out the public footpaths for me— above and beyond! My only comment would be that the washer/dryer are listed as in-unit, but they are in a shed area detached outside. It’s very, very easy to access, though! I would also add that it might be helpful for the unit to add a few minor things in the kitchen like a colander— I was making quite a bit of pasta and it was a little tricky to drain it, but didn’t have enough reason to purchase one. Thank you again!
