We had a wonderful stay at Penelopi’s place. It was a very cozy place and had everything we needed for a five week stay. Unfortunately it was Dec/Jan and too cold to sit on the balcony, but it is very large and has a view of the sea. The location is excellent and the town of Rethymno is to us the best in the area. We are very glad we based here. You can walk all along the waterfront from in front on the unit all the way around the fort to the end of the beach. It is beautiful and is about four miles round trip. Old town is nice. Grocery stores are convenient. The location is great for exploring the Chania, and Heraklion area and the south side of the island. Which you cannot miss. We do not eat out a lot but we did try Galera and Prima Plora, both were very good. But, if you want good, inexpensive food try Peppers. You will not regret staying here. The only downside is as others have mentioned, the dump area in front of the building.

We have stayed in Manolis place for a week and had a great time. The apartment is situated in the city center and the location is excellent. The place itself is spacious and equipped with everything you need for a short or prolonged stay. We found it clean and ready for us upon arrival. We had excellent communication with our host Manolis who responded always within minutes. The only gripe I have is that the mattress was quite uncomfortable and a bit worn. I have a severe back problem and that caused me some discomfort, but besides that everything else was great and we had really good time. I do recommend the place, especially to people who plan to walk a lot in the city or plan to move around the island, since the bus station is 5-10 minutes on foot from the apartment.
