Cottage vacation rentals in Island of Hawai'i

We were on a family trip to the volcano park. Ari’s property has everything we needed to make this trip an enjoyable experience. The convenient location is such a plus because it only takes 10 minutes of drive from the entrance of the volcano park to the house, and you definitely don’t want to drive too far after a whole day of hiking. Also, it’s very quiet and safe in this neighborhood, ensuring us a good sleep every night. We look forward to coming back to Sri’s house next time visiting the area again!

This place is beautiful, We loved the cute layout of the house and it has an amazing view of the ocean!!!! The place was spotless and very welcoming. The kitchen was well stocked. There was a cooler and 2 beach chairs available when we arrived. The only downside was the distance to Kona at 1hour and 15 min. You will need to rent a car for this house. The driving is slow so it takes time to get anywhere on the island. Albert did a great job with recommendations. Be sure to check out 2 step. I would not recommend this house for more than 2 adults and 2 or 3 children unless you are ok with a packed house as it is cute but small. Overall we would stay again. The Maid's Quarters were lovely and very peaceful. One day we stayed was pretty stormy, and we ended up losing electricity, but Todd and Olivia made sure we had flashlights and candles, and it came back on before nightfall (electricity even went out at the lodge in the park nearby). The hottub is within site of the host's house, but felt private enough. They provided robes and bath shoes, which was nice. The house is very sweetly decorated and we were quite comfortable.

Great location gorgeous views very friendly host, great communication took the time to give us delicious fresh Kona coffee for a Christmas gift, greatly appreciated everything... house was great with all the amenities...

My husband & I enjoyed our stay here. Everything about our stay was PERFECT! The aesthetic, the surrounding, the atmosphere and vibe was outstanding! We only stayed for a night but waking up to the view of a rainforest was beautiful. The hot tub was amazing especially when used at night because the air was crisp and cold. Very relaxing and peaceful. 10/10 recommend to anyone who considers staying here. We will be back!

We had a fantastic stay at this cozy Airbnb! The location is beautiful—nestled in nature, offering a peaceful and relaxing escape. The space was clean, well-equipped, and had thoughtful touches that made it feel like home. A couple of things to note: the front door doesn’t fully close all the way, and the hot tub struggled to stay warm. Neither of these were deal-breakers, but something to be aware of. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet retreat in nature!

Loved the art and the modern design! The house was immaculate, very quiet and full of light. The one thing I would note is that the mattresses may need to be replaced, and a water filter needs to be provided to remove the chlorine taste from the tap water. Thanks!

Had a great time in this private and peaceful accommodation. Ashley was very friendly and responsive and provided us with privacy and easy communication. This place provides a unique and relaxing glamping style stay. It rained very hard the first night and sounded beautiful as it’s an open air room but still felt very secure and everything stayed dry. After the rain the coqui were plentiful so it may not be for everyone but I found it to be soothing and peaceful. My only recommendation is maybe to hang a mirror in the shower room or in the kitchen/bathroom area. Mahalo for a great stay!

I loved the landscaping and proximity to everything. you are somehow in the center of it all and away from everything at once. the grounds of the property are lush and large... absolutely fantastic for letting small kids spend their energy in a safe way. nobody felt cooped in. fantastic place for kids. jason was very prompt when I was having trouble with the keypad with a car sick child. it was my error, but his super fast responses went a long way to start our vacation right. his place was more than ample to host my family of 5 and we were all comfortable. He provided plenty of linens/towels/toiletries which was also very helpful oh.. and we loved his shower. great water pressure!! unexpected major perk. I'd definitely stay here again while visiting hilo. thank you so much

Ka Hale Malie( The Peaceful House) This Airbnb is a hidden gem for those seeking peace and tranquility. Located in a serene area, it offers a quiet escape with the soothing sounds of nature. The information book provided was invaluable, making it easy to plan our days. The house itself was full of character and unique features, adding to the overall charm and ambiance. The spacious living area and beautiful deck provided ample space to relax, perfect spot for enjoying our morning coffee or evening cocktails. With a car, it's an ideal hub for exploring the Big Island. Just 30 minutes from Hilo airport, it's easy to find and located in a safe, friendly neighborhood. Close to the coast and great hikes, it's the perfect getaway. The features of the house and beautiful garden make it a place we'd love to return to. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a peaceful and rejuvenating getaway on the Big Island. Mahalo,

Autumn was so amazing and pleasant to use during our whole AirBnB reservation. We ended up not staying so to several recommendations about the area. When we informed Autumn she went out of her way to make us feel comfortable and wanted to provide us reassurance that her home was safe. We still need up getting an other AirbNb, but just to make use feel comfortable!! This home is very cute and looks just like the pictures and Autumn makes sure you feel as part of her Ohana!

Aunty Janet & Uncle Paul showed plenty aloha to my brother and I. Since we first booked our trip two months in advance, Uncle Paul was quick with responding to our questions/concerns. We were grateful to find a peaceful escape from the busy concrete jungle. Mahalo Nui Loa and A Hui Hou!

Me and my daughter had a wonderful time at Connie’s cottage!! There was beautiful nature and a very big tropical garden. Many different kind of plants, trees and flowers. The cottage inside is very spacious for two people with many needed supplies . Thank you, Connie, you are a great host! We hope we will come back next year🙂

This place is so much more beautiful in person! We stayed with a baby and toddler and had everything we needed, including a pack-and-play! My daughter loved spending time with the cat Ollie outside. It helped her feel at home since we have a cat named Oliver. She loved playing in the bath. The house was clean and comfy, with plenty of blankets to keep us warm. Kathryn and Bill were helpful and friendly. I would recommend staying here. It’s by far the most beautiful part of the island, away from the hustle and bustle but close to stores when you need something. We explored the whole island in a week and returned to a relaxing place to sleep.

Gordon and Rhonda are conscientious hosts. They met us upon arrival, offered use of snorkeling and other gear and gave advice on things to see and do. Location is very convenient for West Island sites and activities.

We stayed at Sheryll’s place for 6 nights. Our stay was very nice. Her home is comfy and perfect for a couple. There was coffee for us to enjoy every morning. She gifted two Hawaii mugs to us, so thoughtful. The neighborhood was nice as well. Market only a couple blocks away. Totally walkable. We enjoyed chatting with her and her husband Roger. We enjoyed our stay here very much! This is a gem of a find - so different than the usual condos or such when staying in Hawaii. The property and house was beautiful, and gives a unique look into the history of the region. The house, despite its age, was spotlessly clean and comfortable. We were a bit nervous staying in a historic house with small children, but everything breakable is up high and it ended up being perfect for our needs. Our kids loved the pool and we all enjoyed the fruit trees on the property. We didn’t mind the frog noises at night - it’s the tropics after all! Lisa was very helpful, responsive, and friendly. As for nearby activities - we mostly drove to Hilo or farther north for swimming, site seeing, hiking, or food. But there is a lovely zoo just a few minutes down the road and a grocery store nearby as well. Overall a wonderful place to stay!

We loved our stay here. It was quiet and private. The sunset views were amazing! The tiny house had everything we needed. The street to the house is interesting. Google maps will correctly direct you. But the first time you arrive should be in the daytime. It would be a bit challenging to find at night. But once you arrive, the view makes it worth the drive. We watched the lights of Kona at night far down the mountainside and could also see the cruise ships in the bay.
