I stayed at Pearson's Cabin at Capertee Valley Retreats for two nights over New Year's with my daughter and our dog, and it was exactly the peaceful, digital-free getaway we were hoping for. The setting is even more beautiful than the photos suggest, with its serene surroundings, breathtaking views, and overall tranquility. Peter gave us very clear and helpful directions to the cabin and greeted us warmly on arrival. He also kindly invited us to use the pool, which we thoroughly enjoyed—thank you so much, Peter and Rosemary! If you're looking for a peaceful retreat to immerse yourself in the Australian bush while enjoying the comfort of a well-appointed cabin (with the most comfortable mattress ever!), this is the perfect spot. Great for those hoping to bird watch and see large groups of kangaroos in the wild. Now that I have welcomed a new year by watching the sun rise over a mountain, I am spoiled for ringing in future January 1sts in any other way.

We absolutely loved our week on Amanda’s farm. It was the perfect way to get away from the city and enjoy some fresh air in a peaceful setting. The tiny home is equipped with everything you need, and the loft bed with the luxurious linen was so comfortable - it made for some lovely morning sleep-ins! We cooked up a storm in the kitchen, and the composting eco toilet system is also very impressive and clean. The highlight for us was definitely touring Amanda’s incredible vegetable garden and fruit orchard, and going out on the buggy with Amanda and her amazing working kelpies to muster up the sheep! Our own city-dog Kelpie was very excited to be a farm dog for the week and had a blast. We would highly recommend trying Amanda’s homemade pies and the fresh BBQ lamb and fresh veggie packs. This was a very relaxing and memorable stay for us and we left feeling very refreshed and inspired. We would love to be back again on the farm again soon!

Beautiful location, snug accommodation and great hosts. Can't recommend highly enough. The evening tour of the sanctuary - which is a real labour of love - was the highlight: thanks Joel (and sorry we were late 🙂).
