House vacation rentals in Bowness-on-Windermere

We had a lovely stay at Francesca's home to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday. 6 adults and 3 children were easily accommodated, and the space allowed us to have a fun catch-up. Fran's printed information sheets were great, and allowed us to make the most of our time there. Friendly, responsive host. We hope to be back!

Fabulous lodge, beautifully decorated for Christmas with a lovely festive welcome pack waiting for us on arrival. The beds were comfy and a good size unlike other lodges we've stayed in. Peaceful site which is close to plenty of restaurants and other amenities. Good communication from the host. We had a perfect family Christmas staying here and enjoyed it so much, we've already booked another stay.

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Broom Hill. The house is truly stunning and has everything you need! The location is a perfect balance of peace of quiet and being only a 5 minute drive away from the hustle and bustle of Bowness town. We couldn’t have had a better trip, thank you!

We loved our stay at School House over the holiday period. It was beautifully decorated with a Christmas tree and other decorations. Felt very homely. We cooked Christmas dinner at the Airbnb which went perfectly. We walked into town everyday which was only a 5-10 min stroll and there is also a good softplay for the kids a 5 min walk away by Lidl. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Family of 4 stayed 3 nights in October 2024 and it was just what we needed. Had some beautiful long walks along the beach. The caravan was home from home, clean and cosy. It had everything you could want for cooking a simple breakfast to Sunday Roast. Clean and respectful surroundings around the park. I would definitely recommend to family and friends.

The house is in a superb position overlooking Ambleside with all shops and amenities close by. Beds were very comfortable and everywhere was warm despite some chilly weather. Kitchen has just about all the pots, pans and utensils that you could ever need so cooking meals in was made a lot easier. Having said that, the delights of Ambleside's pubs and restaurants are an easy walk DOWN into town. Don't forget the hill back home after a big meal with a couple of drinks! We wouldn't hesitate to book again.

An absolutely amazing place. We found ourselves at home and with all the convenient amenities required for a great holiday. Very spacious and situated in a perfect location. Above all, Brenda was simply amazing, taking time to explain everything and giving us excellent recommendations. She was so helpful and always contactable. We will certainly be returning to this beautiful cottage.

I booked on behalf of some gentlemen we had working in Barrow, Kelly was fantastic, she was on hand, fast replies, patient and very helpful. She met our needs fantastically and quickly, Managed to get cleaners out to the house asap for us. I cannot fault her. Amazing.

We had a great time at Canny Brow Barn. Everything you could possible think of or need for your stay, Ian and Anne-Marie had thought about, from a cocktail shaker to cleaning products to games. Would highly recommend!

Quarry Nook was perfect for our stay in Lancaster for our daughter's wedding. The property is an easy walk (so long as you don't mind the hill) into Lancaster, and had plenty of space (vital for bridal preparations!). Everything was clean and in good condition. They had even put a Christmas tree up in the corner, which was a nice touch. Would definitely recommend.

I had a wonderful relaxing stay with my elderly parents. Georgie gave me so much information and loads of tips during the week, and generally was super friendly and helpful. Her place was warm, welcoming, and very well kitted out for a family week. The location in Bowness village is ideal, just on the edge of the busy tourist area only a few minutes walk away, and very close to everything. The bus stop is right outside the guest house which is spot on for the 599 which goes around the Windermere and Grasmere area and is a great sight-seeing option. Thanks Georgie for a lovely stay, highly recommend your lovely place and hospitality!

The details are what separate good stays from great ones. Hause Hall has thought these through to the last inch and it boasts unbeatable charm with a location that provides spectacular views and proximity to nature. It would be a mistake to keep searching for a better stay!

We had the most wonderful family long weekend away to celebrate my mother in laws 80th. The house was so comfortable and relaxing and the positioning of the house just perfect, views to die for! I would definitely recommend staying in this beautiful house. I can imagine summer days here are just divine. Rebecca’s communication was very good and responded quickly.

Beautiful house - the kitchen was a great place for us all to get together. And to have a pool/table tennis table in the garage - was a bonus - kept the grandsons entertained!! Great location as could walk to the lake and into Windermere for a coffee! But is was so peaceful as well. We all had a fantastic and much needed break. Even the weather - it rained - could not dampen our spirits!!! Loved it and would book again.

Had an amazing stay here at upper oak house, every room was spotless, hot tub was a very nice touch. Great location just a two minute walk into windamere, we will definitely be back here very soon!

An absolutely lovely house. Will definitely be going back. Really well equipped and welcoming. Looks as amazing in real life as it does on the photos. Perfect location, two brilliant pubs in the village and stunning walks and scenery. We had a fabulous time and would thoroughly recommend.

The photos don’t do the cottage justice to be honest, it’s a very well provisioned little cottage and perfect for our night’s stopover. Well stocked kitchen, close to the shops, beautiful garden, and warm and cosy for our arrival despite our short notice booking! Our kids loved re-filling the bird feeders too, as an optional part of our checkout process.

Booked this cottage for a weekend away and I was very happy with it. Everything was as described and as I expected, the host explained everything we needed in detail and following those instructions meant everything was easy. As it was a short stay I didn't explore the local area much but it seemed to be a very central location for multiple points of interest around the lakes. We would happily stay here again.
