Family-friendly vacation rentals in Appalachian Mountains

This cabin was perfect for us to have a relaxing weekend away. It was just secluded enough to be able to relax and enjoy the breathtaking mountain views. The quaint little town was close with a few restaurants and a grocery. The kitchen was very well equipped for us to be able to stay in and cook.

Bills place was exactly what we needed. 15-20min to the top of Snowshoe, but still secluded. Our dog loved the snow and Billy’s dog. Billy offered great recommendations and quickly resolved any questions/issues we had.

My husband and I had an amazing getaway and this house was perfect! Clean, literally spotless! Close to everything such as restaurants, fun in the snow, and taking a trip down memory lane. We will definitely be booking another stay in the Spring time.

First off, thank you Joseph for listing your cabin on AirBNB. This was my first rental through the service and messaging him was very easy, he responded within minutes and was always helpful. The cabin was exactly what I would hope for this type of area; great woodsy decorations (deer on wall, leather hides hanging as decorations)and yet still comfortable. The hottub was clean and functional. The property was very large and had so many great nature spots (pond you can paddle on, trails, waterfalls, creek, etc). Next, the location in relation to a great state park (Babcock) and the National Park (New River Gorge) was perfect. The cabin was in the middle of nowhere and secluded, yet we did not drive more than 30-45 minutes maximum, most places were 20 minutes away. I would not change a single thing about this stay. I will be back when the horses are on property! If you’re reading this, rent this cabin, unless you want a place in the city. I recommend a 4x4 or AWD vehicle for this

Seth and Carla were extremely responsive during our stay! We loved how many beds this house had and we were able to all spend time together while comfortably being seated around tables/living rooms! We wish the fire pit had seating or that fireplaces worked, but we loved this property and its proximity to wineries and ski resorts!

Michelle was very kind, the cabin was lovely, and the surrounding area was gorgeous. the hot tub overlooks the valley with a clear view of the sky for stargazing at night. the reading nook with the big windows was super cozy. Great stay!

Our annual stay at Kelly’s cabin is honestly one of the highlights of our year. This peaceful, secluded, cozy home is the reason we’ve all fallen in love with “cabin weekend” and we’re so thankful to Kelly for sharing this gem. The home is wonderfully equipped with all the essentials to few right at home and the firewood for real fires and jacuzzi are the cherries on top of a great home. Would recommend to any group or family looking to get away and reconnect with each other.

I really loved this place. I can see why it gets booked quickly. I took the train in from Chicago and it was within walking distance of a lot, which made it really convenient. The place was super cute and had everything I needed to cook, which I did a lot while I was there. It was a nice little getaway and great for just relaxing somewhere different for a few days. Would definitely stay again!

Dharma Wheel was a lovely place that we just loved. It was close enough to stores and restaurants without having to go to far out of the way. We would definitely recommend and would love to stay there again.

We had a fantastic stay! The place was spotless and had everything we needed for a perfect weekend with our family. The location was excellent, just a short drive (less than 5 minutes) to the beach and close to great restaurants. Highly recommend this spot for a relaxing and convenient getaway!

Tara was a great host, which any questions she got back to us with the answers almost immediately. The home was just as beautiful as the view and was a quick distance to the center of town. Fantastic place to gather with family for a cozy weekend in the woods. Most definitely will be staying with her listing again in the future!

We stayed almost a whole month and truly felt at home. Loved every single thing about this little cottage on an orchard. Pat is a superstar host in my book. Always responsive and helpful in any way. We loved the location it's the perfect mix of feeling isolated but really only 5 minutes to the grocery store. Everything you need for an extended stay is right here. We'll be back!

We had a wonderful girl's trip staying in Diana's house! We walked to the beach and to Scratch bakery (twice). The house was perfect for the five of us with a great sitting area to hang out and chat. The house was clean and the instructions for cleaning up were easy to follow.

Clara’s cabin was everything an adventurer could ever want. My mother and I stayed for a cozy winter weekend and Clara’s majestic property provided just that! The cabin was perfect- full of history, had special amenities (the tub!! Snowshoes!) and was at the doorstep of a beautiful state forest. We enjoyed snowshoeing, then coming home to a wood stove and the ability to make hot meals with the cabin’s kitchen. My dog Critter also was in heaven. We can’t wait to come back in all seasons… I’ve already told friends about how they need to stay there and I only left 8 hours ago. That’s saying something!

We loved our stay! We had a great time as a family. one thing we thought of was we were very thankful our children were at the ages (5,3,2, 7 months) they were since there was lots and lots of glass stuff sitting around.

The weekend was phenomenal, the amenities were fantastic and well-managed. The only downsides were that it was fairly apparent that the local bylaws greatly impacted the place with some unreasonable asks. For example, they required every tenant's name, age, phone, email and home address. Per the Short-Term Rental bylaw, only the number of tenants and adults for the Short-Term Rental are required. Outside of these couple of inconveniences, we had a great time and would definitely be back.

This place was an awesome winter stay. the private beach looking onto the lake was perfect for a daytime fire. The windows of the living room looking out on the lake were beautiful and allowed us to enjoy the beauty surrounding us even when we were inside. The indoor heated pool is by far the best part

Carol’s place was beautiful! The pool was a nice bonus and it wasn’t too far from the falls! Carol was seriously, hands downs thee coolest airbnb host I’ve encountered yet!!! She was so funny and engaged when I had questions on how far things were or her recommendations on things to do nearby! I will def be back, if not to stay in her beautiful airbnb it will be to hang out with her!!! Thanks sooo much Carol! My sister and I had a blast and you made it 1000x funner!

Oasis on John’s Island. Relaxing, welcoming, and unique. Enjoyed working from the treehouse and some morning saunas!

Great host! 6 of us stayed at the airbnb and it was spacious, clean and we felt right at home. Super easy to community. Close to shopping, food and activities. We will deff stay here again.

We absolutely loved this place. We had a second Christmas and new years here and it was beautifully decorated and perfect cozy cabin for the holiday season. 10 minutes from camelback and a beautiful park at the lake a few minutes walk from the house. We will definitely be back in the summer to take advance of the amazing back deck with the pool. Elias was a perfect host. Overall 10/10!

Amazing location with a gorgeous yard! The house was fully stocked, making it a breeze to cook for our guests. Joseph was incredibly communicative and immediately took care of a minor issue in the basement. We had such a peaceful, bucolic stay—perfect for runners with lots of hills to explore. And the pool toys added so much fun to our weekend! Highly recommend!
