Casa do Varatojo is a tranquil and healing location in a small town, offering warmth and hospitality beginning with Sara and her family, and continuing throughout the surrounding communities. I've lived in Portugal for three years in the southern part of the country, and was so impressed at how uncommonly welcoming and accepting of a total stranger the community members have been in this area. Casa do Varatojo itself is a great place to relax and unwind and explore surrounding destinations nearby, including Nazaré. The casinha where I stayed for several weeks was warm, cozy and clean, with a nice shower and little terrace. Sara and her family were helpful and always available if I needed help and information. I had a special request for my reservation, and Sara couldn't have been more accomodating. Finally, Sara offers yoga classes several times a week, and generously offered to let me use her yoga studio many times. It was a great stay! Thank you Sara and your lovely family!

I came to Alcobaça to hike around the national park and Quinta Boa Vida served its purpose beautifully for my solo trip. The park is a perfect driving distance and so is Alcobaça (great variety of food shops, a Decathlon, gym, restaurants etc). I stayed in the Romantic Chalet which was such a great space for me to retreat and recharge in nature. The surroundings are beautiful and the place is cared for well. I loved the book of things to do upon arrival, this was a very lovely touch. The chalet is super cosy and functional, great for someone who likes to cook at home! Maria and Sandra were amazing with their communication and even checked up on me during my stay, I felt very looked after. I cannot recommend this place enough. We had a fantastic stay at Ruth and Gray's place. The accomodation was more than expected. Plenty of space throughout the barn and so well equipped. Provision of essentials (shampoo and shower gel, laundry liquid, tea and coffee etc) was very useful and added an extra touch to our stay. Our young boys loved exploring the land each day and playing with the outdoor games, which was a real bonus. Ruth and Gray provided a really useful list of places to visit within the area - there's so much available within a short drive of the barn. It was then great to get back to the barn to enjoy the grounds and the terrace each evening. Ruth and Gray were very friendly and happy to help. We felt very at home in the barn and would loved to have stayed for longer. We will be sure to visit again. Thank you Ruth and Gray.

Great stay at Aïda's. The apartment is spacious, very clean and super well-equipped. Conveniently located, everything can be visited on foot. Less than a 10-minute walk to the train station. We recommend this apartment without hesitation. Lise and Pierre
