Family-friendly vacation rentals in Vatnajokull

Really amazing house. It should be the best during the whole trip in Iceland. The road to the house is slippy and a bit hard to drive. But it's definitely worthy. It's quite spacious with almost everything you need inside even a sauna. The house stands in middle of the mountain with great view. We were able to see aurora here.

Everything was as expected and even surpassed our expectations. So thank you very much, we really enjoyed it :)

We stayed at this beautiful property during a snow storm. It was so beautiful and peaceful! The hot tub was a fun experience in the snow. The caretaker who showed us the house was so helpful and kind! Definitely recommend renting a car that’s REALLY good in the snow if you stay here in the winter!

Clean and comfortable home in the middle of Vik. A short walk to a wonderful burger joint/brewery and the Lava show. This place was ideal for our family with our toddler because it was all one level, a few toys were available and crib and high chair were also available for our use. We hope to visit again.

Jon was very responsive, and he was very accommodating! The home felt comfortable. A couple of things to note, first is the doorways are short. My hubby is 6’3” tall and he hit his head on every door way. And that the only shower is outdoors. I missed that part of the listing. But I’m sure it’s an experience but we did not use it since we only stayed one night. The property and surrounding area is wonderful to explore! Overall a wonderful cozy stay!

It was a great experience. We were a group of 8 so the beds accomodated us effectively, though one of the rooms smelled funny so we did not use it. We got lucky and saw an incredible light show with the northern lights on a moonless night on the 31st of December - vivid greens and a little red too! On top of it all, we saw a few shooting stars. When midnight struck for the new year, a firework show started unexpectedly in the neighboring yard for the New Year. It will be memories we hold dear for a lifetime.

The place was perfect! So cozy and beautiful. Great location for exploring south Iceland being so close to Vik. We loved it.

Sweet elderly couple running this farm stay, very responsive to attend to if and when needed. Lovely breakfast in the morning. Oh I forgot the great view of the glacier from this place and since this place has no light pollution, was able to stumble upon the Aurora as well.

Nice house, even the toilet is heated with rain shower. washing machine with dryer is fantastic.

By far the best place I’ve stayed in Iceland. Everything from check-in to check-out was perfect. There’s really nothing like walking into a warm modern cabin in the middle of desolate Iceland after a long day of driving. Zero complaints.

This place is far away from town, and if we had a clear night I imagine the views would be amazing! It was very windy and snowy and we couldn’t see a thing the whole way there and all night. The hosts did a great job of continuing to plow to keep us safe.

This place was wonderful, right off the water! The cabin was very clean and up to date. We were able to use the kitchenette to make potato soup for dinner! It was really warm despite ice being on the ground. Highly recommend!!
