Great to have a massive grass area out the front for lawn games. The big living area, deck and spa pool also nice. Well layed out house for entertaining and relaxing after our running event. Close to the big carrot / park, would be nice for families too.

The best place to be with a large group of friends or family. Amazing space with plenty of space and thoughtful touches (marshmallows by the fire was a crowd favourite). Beautiful views of the mountian and close enough to both skifields to beat the crowds. Hope to stay here again soon.

We had the best time! Loved the deck with the bbq, bath and deer. Would definitely stay again!

Cozy house with a great location. The bonus spa tub outside is very enjoyable after a long hike. I definitely recommend to those who would like to have a trip to walk the Tongariro Crossing ！

Such a beautiful home with lots of character. Perfect spot for a few families and lots of room for the kids to run around outside. We loved our stay and will be back hopefully next snow season 😊

Andy was a very responsive and proactive host which made us feel relaxed and reassured to reach out if needed. The home was as described and suited our needs perfectly. The view was just glorious and the location fantastic!

This is a very nice home in Ohakune. I think this town is the best area to stay for access to Tongariro as it is a real city with shop, cafes and a grocery store. The house is really well equipped and Eileen was a great host. Definitely recommend it

The apartment was spacious and very clean. Is was a great place from which to hike in Tongariro National Park. Richard’s brought freshly baked bread soon after we arrived which we continued to eat during our 2 night stay. He was super responsive to all my questions.

Just great! We were a family group - from grandparents to school aged children. We loved the fenced off property directly on the lake shore. We had access to the kayaks & small tin boat. We had so much fun. The covered deck was a peaceful escape from the hot sun. We had a Christmas meal there, the kitchen is well fitted with platters & everything you need. The toilet & shower in the shed outside was a great bonus for our family. The hosts were always responsive. We didn’t use the hot tub, but it would be lovely! The view, the lake, and away from the congestion of Taupo.

We had a great stay at the Sawmill Lodge, well set up for big groups. Easy to drive into town.

Stunning view of Mount Ruapehu as you drive to Ohakune! Great region to explore or rest for the night! Kate has a guestbook with everything you need to know about her place, recommendations of where to eat, and what to explore in the area. We needed a night’s rest before driving to Auckland all the way from Wellington, and I’m glad we chose her place. 5 stars!

Wonderful wee railway cottage. Kids cracked up/crapped their pants when the trains roared past in the night but it became part of their norm in no time. Great wee cottage with everything we needed and close to town. Perfect for going up the mountain and super helpful host! Thank you.

We had a fabulous time, bach is perfect for two families. Had a blast with the pool, tennis court, large garden, and pool table keeping everyone busy having fun. An easy stroll to Floating Rock for lunch, with the river, reserve and lake nearby too. Tracy was very responsive, helpful and friendly. We would definitely stay again.

What a gem! We stayed here to do the Alpine Crossing and they put together an amazing meal for the trek. Beyond that their restaurant (book ahead) was outstanding! We ate at the bar after the walk because we were too pooped to go out and the food was similar and delicious without booking ahead. Staff were helpful and friendly. Wish we could have stayed for more than two days. Also highly recommend the blue duck tour they suggested too.

Beautiful location on the shore of Lake Taupo. The unit was well equipped and had a perfect amount of space for two people. The views were lovely and the entire place was quiet and peaceful. The nearest town was a bit of drive (~10 min). We tried the Hare and Copper for dinner one night and it was well worth the drive. Tongariro Park is not too far away so this is a great spot for hikers doing the Tongariro Alpine Crossing.

Nice place has everything for a ski trip. Huge living space , love the dry room.

Sharon and Graeme's place is a super family friendly place in the middle of sheep and dairy farm country. The kitchen was fully stocked with a wide variety of pots, pans, and spices to cook with. The host provided us with home made ginger bars upon arrival, helping us feel right at home. We enjoyed the variety of games in the closet as well.

The Barn is such a characterful, interesting space to stay in. We really enjoyed the heart and soul put in to it. We stayed for two nights and the more we looked, the more new features we saw! Even when we checked out there were quirky but practical design features we hadn't noticed before. The surrounding gardens are also very well done. This is a great place to stay if you are interested in design, innovation, kiwi ingenuity and of course a beautiful setting.
