Stylish Victorian House with Private Patio in West London

Welcome to my newly renovated Victorian family home in a lovely, quiet street. Minutes away from the hustle and bustle of Shepherd's Bush/Holland Park/ Notting Hill. Eat al fresco in a private garden in the fine weather. Take your pick from a large collection of books and child-friendly accessories to m this a great family escape and a calm base from which to see the London sights! It's just a 3-minute walk to tube / bus stations and once you're on the tube, it's a 10-minute tube ride to the central London attractions. I am on hand with information to help your stay be fabulous! Welcome to my home where I live half the time but we are away a lot! I'm very child friendly - see the bottom of this section for the list of what I can provide you with in addition to cot etc... >Summary of my house: - 4 bedrooms... 3 double bedrooms with big, luxurious beds with very comfortable, pocket-sprung mattresses. A fourth sweet little bedroom with a single, very comfortable divan bed, that would suit an adult as well as a child. All beds are made up with cotton sheets and four pillows (two are down, two are hyper-allergenic so you can choose) - The house has two floors (levels). The ground floor has porcelain tiles (that look like wood!) and underfloor heating. The kitchen, living space, one bedroom and one bathroom are on this level. You can open the concertina doors from the kitchen and walk out into the patio. The downstairs bedroom has porcelain floor with underfloor heating, like the rest of the downstairs. - The upstairs bedrooms (2 doubles and one single) have carpeted stairs. And a stair gate at the top. - No one else lives above or below you... this is a house not an apartment. It's very clean as no-one wears shoes in the house. That was the summary... Here's some more detail... *Downstairs: - Entrance hall/stairs up - Spacious main open-plan living/kitchen area with large oak table and 8 chairs, two big sofas the other end for sitting and chatting, glass coffee table, TV with cable, Netflix (guest account), stereo which you can plug your iPhone/tablet into to play your own music. Plus selection of CDs... - Glass bi-fold doors leading out to the patio which also has an outside metal/glass table with 8 chairs. - Underfloor heating. - Very well equipped kitchen for cooks. Dishwasher, electric oven with grill, a glass electric halogen (induction) hob, microwave, Caffitiere coffee maker, blender, electric rice cooker, toaster. Also a washing machine with in-built tumble dryer, a dishwasher and large refrigerator/ice box. - Bathroom 1, with WC, basin and walk in shower (this bathroom is brand new as of March 2018) - Large double bedroom downstairs (bedroom 1 in the photos) with king bed (5 foot wide) at street level, with a bay window (with pretty white wooden shutters for privacy), wardrobe, underfloor heating, etc. With the bathroom next to it, this is a good room for someone who does not like to climb stairs as they can remain on the ground floor the whole stay and not have to climb any stairs. The bed has a pocket sprung orthopaedic mattress. *Upstairs... - Bedroom 2 has a king bed (5 foot wide, pocket sprung mattress), a tall wardrobe with hangers, an antique mahogany table and chair for letter writing... a chest of drawers for clothes, a large mirror, suitcase stands etc. - Bedroom 3 has a huge, luxurious super king (6 ft wide) divan bed with pocket sprung mattress and mattress topper. - Bedroom 4 has a sweet single (3 foot or 90cm wide) divan bed, suitable for an adult tor child, curtains with a farmyard print, and a little cabinet. There's not a lot of room do swing a cat but it's really sweet and cosy. - Bathroom 1 (upstairs) with bath and shower (shower is inside the bath rather than a separate walk in shower). Bath has an overhead rose shower and also a second shower head that you can use while sitting in the bath (I like this!). Basin, WC. Heated towel rail. That's it. It's yours to enjoy! If you are travelling with a small child/small children I can leave you: - high chair or booster cushion for eating at the table, if you are past the high chair stage! - crib with clean bedding (sheet, duvet, shallow pillow - baby monitor with video camera (Motorola) - rocker chair - a bed guard if you have a child who sleeps in the divan bed but you are worried he/she may fall out. It slips under the mattress. - lots of books from ages 0-5 - wipe-able toys like abacus etc - board games - plastic crockery, junior cutlery Everything! The whole house and private patio/terrace.. You have the place yourselves! But I will be contactable throughout your stay by phone, text, whatsapp, FaceTime or email - whatever your preferred mode of your communication! When you book, I will email you with my big pdf guide document with my tips on where to buy food, swim, run, do yoga, eat out (best London vegan and gluten free restaurants included!) and some kids' activities and my secret London tips! And a second document which outlines how things work in the house (how to use the oven, the magic Quooker kitchen tap that gives you boiling hot water, filtered drinking water, etc). If you come at a time when I am on away then the nice chap in my local grocery store keeps the key safe and will release it to you once you give him a magic code... I will call you once you are in situ to make sure you are happy and answer any questions - and will be available throughout your stay. The house is an oasis of calm in the midst of bustling West London—near Holland Park and Notting Hill, but a bit more cosmopolitan. Walk to bars, restaurants, cinemas, Westfield shopping centre, White City House, Television Centre, Imperial College and various music venues. It's a 5-minute walk to Shepherd's Bush Tube Station and there are many buses to town if you prefer to be above ground. Very central. 5 minute walk to tube and overground train, 2 mins to buses. This is central London so it's very well-connected. PARKING: If you want to park right outside the house, you can. As with most London streets, it's pay and display - for £2.80 an hour. You can't park between the house of 6.30pm and 8pm however. For longer term parking, you can park in the Westfield shopping centre for £8 for an entire 24 hours - the cheapest place in central London! - and leave it over night for no extra charge - my friends all park there if they are coming to town! You can leave your car there overnight or multiple nights safely. It's a safe 5 minute walk back to the house, via Waitrose if you need some groceries! :)

Walk to Hyde Park from This Sleek Mid-Century Mews

Settle into this spacious 1950s Mews house less than 10 minutes walk to Hyde Park. Windows overlook cobblestone streets below. There’s something to be said about a vintage dwelling that can pull off contemporary furnishings, high ceilings, and walnut flooring. Staying in a mews house is a unique experience. Originally these small cobbled central London streets were built to house stabling for the large houses on either side. Over the years they have become some of the most desirable residences in London We’ve long been fans of 1950s design and chose this because it was built in the 1950s and designed to be easy to live in. Our house is warm and welcoming with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It's spotlessly clean with high ceilings, walnut flooring and iconic "Crittal" windows looking out onto the Mews. At 100 sqm, it's the perfect size for a London stay, compact but not small (by London standards) and equipped with everything you could want We use the house ourselves when we are in London but we live mainly in Amsterdam. It is our London home and not a investment rental property and you will feel the personal nature of the property when you stay here. It feels like a home with lots of books, artworks and design items. But as a guest you won’t see more mundane or unsightly signs of our presence :-) We keep our own things on the third floor. This will be locked and off-limit to guests. The rest of the house is fully accessible and yours to enjoy and make your own. We make the house available when we're in Amsterdam or travelling so would not normally be available for guests. However we have a concierge service for immediate help and are always available ourselves at the end of the phone line. Paddington is a brilliant location for a London stay. Think of living in a Mews like living in a village with places like Paddington Station and Hyde Park all within reach. Though the home is quiet, Central London moves at full speed right outside. A London Mews is like a small community where everyone knows everyone else. So please don’t stay here if you are looking for complete privacy and anonymity; the Neighbourhood Watch is very efficient! This is a ridiculously convenient place to live. It's hard to believe that Heathrow Airport is only 20 minutes by train and yet you're only a 10 minute cab ride to the heart of London's West End. If you want to catch a tube, there are three underground (tube) stops within 5 minutes walk (Paddington, Bayswater and Lancaster Gate). For peace and serenity in the heart of the city, you're less then 10 minutes to Hyde Park. From there you can walk to Westminster without ever leaving parkland or take a boat ride on the Serpentine. If you want to cycle, the new London Cycle-Super Highway runs less than a minute from the house. This is a protected route all the way across London. Whilst we don't provide bikes but there are bikes available very close by. And if you want to get out of town to Oxford, Bath and the west country, then hop on a train from Paddington. Oxford is less than 60 minutes away! Or you can pick up a rental / zipcar and the main westbound freeway out of London is just a minute's drive too There is no parking available but you don't need a car in central London. You can hire one close by if you want to make a day trip There are no handrails on the stairs nor child gates or protectors of any kind. So although we do welcome families, the house isn’t “kid-proof” and isn’t robustly furnished nor well equipped for youngsters. But we have many friends with kids and they use our place when they come to London. So this isn’t a deal breaker of course so long as you understand the house’s limitations There are only two beds. The one is the master bedroom is a super-kingsize, width 180cm and 200cm long The one in the guest bedroom is 200cm wide but it’s a little short at only 180cm long. So great for children, teenagers and shorter adults. We orientate it this way because of the room depth. This is central London. Even in a Mews there is noise. And there will inevitably be construction work somewhere close by. Londoners are always making changes to their homes, digging up roads et cetera

Savour Sweeping Skyline Views at a Clerkenwell Penthouse

Relax into high-rise living with breakfast on the 1500 square feet of wraparound terrace overlooking virtually every London landmark. Sunshine pours in to this contemporary space from the triple aspect floor-to-ceiling windows, while historic taverns and numerous eateries are within easy walking distance. A surprisingly peaceful oasis so close to the centre. If you would like to make a reservation please tell me about yourselves and others who would be staying. This is high-rise living at its most spectacular. Sunshine pours in from the triple aspect floor-to-ceiling windows, and with it, a view that takes in nigh on every major London landmark; St Paul’s Cathedral, The London Eye, The Gherkin, Tate Modern,The Telecom Tower, Canary Wharf… There's a 1500 (YES 1500) sq foot wrap around terrace to enjoy the views and outdoor dining throughout the summer Even if splendid vistas were all that was on offer, you’d be moving in. But turn your back on the windows and you’ll find two very large double bedrooms, an enormous open plan living space equipped with beautiful leather furniture and an ultra-modern kitchen. Fully furnished, including large screen plasma TV, wifi and luxury finishings with lots of storage space. Kitchen is fully fitted - toaster, microwave, fridge, freezer, washer/dryer, dishwasher, oven. And when your feet touch the ground again, you’ll discover that you’re right in zone 1. A brisk walk can have you wandering in Piccadilly, Covent Garden or Trafalgar Square passing the British Museum, The National Gallery or the British Library on the way. Or Tate Modern, St Paul's Cathedral, the Tower of London, the SouthBank Centre, all the theatres and opera, the choice is entirely yours; take a Boris bike, or a bus from outside the door and the sights of London are all less than 10 minutes away. Clerkenwell was where London’s watchmakers plied their trade, now, you can pick up some jewellery in nearby Hatton Garden, or pad over to historic Smithfield for a meal at the Michelin starred St John. Surprisingly serene for such a central location, Clerkenwell boasts a number of historic taverns and eateries, including London’s original gastropub, The Eagle. Pick up coffee and a cake on pretty Exmouth Market before browsing the book and record shops, and then, perhaps on to Angel to hang with the trendy Islingtonites? The apartment accommodates 2 couples in 2 double beds (master is UK king size). Access to all areas. The building sits on the corner of Islington, Clerkenwell, and Exmouth Market, which are are all really exciting areas to explore with abundant shopping and dining. The British Museum, the British Library, and Covent Garden are all an easy walk away. 2 minutes to 19 and 38 bus. They come EVERY minute and take you to Covent Garden, Piccadilly and Knightsbridge. Many other bus routes close by. Angel tube is 7 minutes walk. Kings X, Farringdon, Chancery Lane, Russell Square tubes are all a 15 minute walk. You can walk easily to the British Museum, The British Library, Covent Garden ...... Sign up for Uber and nothing is far away at low cost because it's so central The bedrooms are very bright with skylights. The curtains are sheer so you may wish to have eye masks if light bothers you in the morning. I am surprised to find another apartment in this building being advertised on Airbnb for £50 a night more - it is half the size, has no terrace (I have 1500 sq ft!), no views and faces north (I am south.. and east and west - so sunrise and sunset) It is run by a management company with no personal interaction and keys need to be collected at a distant location. Astonishingly it is rented far more than my home... so if you have found my listing you are truly getting a marvellous deal ;-)))
