Ski-in/Ski-out vacation rentals in North Elba

We had a large group stay at the lodge for the weekend. The lodge was perfect for our gathering, with the kitchen being large and spacious and plenty of rooms for games and activities. Even though we went in the middle of winter, we utilized the trails to see the beautiful Fern Lake and enjoyed the fire pit outside. The hosts were responsive and friendly as well. I would recommend the lodge for any size gathering, no matter the time of year.

We had the best time at Ren and Peter’s beautiful home! It was clearly so thoughtfully created- with huge windows to take in the light and landscape, and a warm wood interior with wood stove to match. The trails on the property are gorgeous, and the public trails nearby are special too. We loved staying here- it was the perfect retreat- and would highly recommend!

Locationnnnn!! Couldn't get better! The value was great and we so appreciated having a full comfy house instead of being in a small hotel room this year. We had two families fit comfortably. Everything was easy to find and the kitchen was well stocked. It's an older house so things creak like the floors and stairs but that is expected and didn't bother us at all. Just bring a sound machine or two if you have babies or sensitive sleepers haha. Deborah was extremely responsive and helpful throughout the entire stay. We will definitely stay here again in the future

We have celebrated the last two Thanksgivings here and couldn't ask for a more ideal setting or a more dedicated host. This impeccably furnished home nestled between the mountains and the town accommodated our group of 11 family members perfectly. Any questions or issues we had were quickly addressed by Andrea, whose helpful recommendations for the area and thoughtful little touches throughout the home made our stay truly special. Looking forward to returning!

Awesome place and really really awesome people.

The Barkeater is one of the loveliest, coziest, most comfortable B&Bs we have ever experienced. Coming through the front door wreathed in blooming clematis, to freshly baked cookies waiting just inside, was a magical welcome to a magical place. We are already planning our return trip, and have encouraged our friends and family (repeatedly) to plan their stays for this fall before the inn is all booked! Meghan and Tyler (and Dude!) are the consummate hosts. We looked forward to their home cooked breakfasts every morning with great anticipation—and the bacon may have been the best we have ever eaten. We loved the abundance of produce from the Barkeater’s garden, as well as many local products and Meghan’s homemade maple syrup. The accommodations were comfortable, clean, and unfussy but luxurious. We slept like a cloud in the comfortable bed, and enjoyed looking at the mountain views through almost any window of our room. We also enjoyed hanging out on the screened porch and the cozy fireplace sitting room, and chatting with other guests each morning during breakfast. The whole vibe of the Barkeater is welcoming and relaxed, and we didn’t want to leave. The location is great for getting out into the High Peaks, or exploring Keene, Lake Placid, Saranac Lake and beyond. Added bonus for hikers: there are many trailheads within a short driving distance, making the race to the trailhead in the mornings much less stressful. We highly recommend the Barkeater and can’t wait to come back!

Everything just so well thought-out. Inside: Rooms tastefully furnished, and house beautifully restored. Everything you could need including great hiking and nature books and games, and convenient kitchen. Breakfast was delicious and perfect for hikers. Outside: The valley/mountain view and feeling of solitude is unbeatable and Meghan's garden could be a tourist attraction in its own right.

The place was great and is a must-stay for others looking for a Lake Placid vacation. The place was very clean, well decorated, and very cozy!

Michael’s place was perfect for our group of 8. The common space was comfortable and well-furnished. The cold temps did not allow us to enjoy the porch but in the warm weather it must be sublime! We made full use of the well-appointed kitchen. The little butler’s pantry was a great place to store non-perishable items so the kitchen counters remained clear. Each room had either an en suite bathroom or one right next door. Everyone loved the water pressure. We felt like we were away from it all but very accessible to town. Everyone in our group enjoyed their stay.

We had a wonderful stay at this cozy rental! They have built the cabin on a location that is breathtaking, with stunning views and plenty of snow for us southern people to enjoy outdoor adventures. The hot tub was a highlight—so relaxing during any temperature. The house stayed warm despite the winter weather, which was a big plus. The place encouraged us to spend more time outdoors, which was a win for our family! We do agree with other reviews that the mattress in the non porch room needs updating. Overall, it was a great experience for those looking to unplug and enjoy nature with a great location to get away from city life.

If your planning on doing any group activity in the high peaks area, this is the spot to stay. Located right off the main trail head to Algonquin and Marcy peaks. Place was cozy, clean, and much larger than I originally expected. Great experience all around.

This was our second visit to this beautiful home. It was perfect for our group… plenty of space for everyone. We had a fantastic weekend hiking, cross country skiing and skating on the Olympic oval. It was awesome to come back and relax in the hot tub and sauna. Would definitely recommend this property!

Picture perfect stay! The cabin is “as-advertised” base on the photos and description. The location is quiet and serene. Majorie was super kind and helpful. She was available for our needs all time throughout the day. Highly recommend taking a canoe out on the lake and going for a swim across from the property. An easy 15 min paddle across will take you to some nice rock outcroppings with crystal clear water for a nice evening dip. Town is a short 10 min right for one night out for a good meal. Def recommend staying on this property!

Fantastic spot! Meticulously maintained cabin that has everything you need. We were two families with kids and it worked out nicely. ‘Went in the winter, would be happy to come back again in the winter or in the summer or any season, it would be lovely any time of year!

This is an absolute gem among the woods and water. Peaceful is an understatement and serene doesn't quite do it justice. It's a place to step back, slow down and unplug from all your cares, worries and realities. You'll get the basic necessities and the time to unwind and relax. This is a well placed, well thought of and we'll out of the way home away from home. But in it's tranquility you'll not be far from the everyday needs of everyday life as town is a quick drive over the mountain. I highly recommend the Cochran cabins for a peaceful escape from your everyday life.

The host is wonderful and warm. The cabin does offer true feel of Adirondack vintage cabin that has added a kitchen and bathroom. I would go back again.

Our stay at this cabin was nothing short of magical! Meghan was an incredible host—she responded quickly and was so helpful with all of our questions before the trip. The cabin itself was stunning and perfectly located for easy drives to places like Lake Placid. Pictures do not do it justice. The property was breathtaking, with trails leading to creeks and ponds right on site. It felt like we had our own little nature escape. One of the loveliest touches was the handmade shampoos, conditioners, and bath gel—they smelled amazing and added such a personal feel to the experience. As a family of five from Miami, seeing snowfall was such a treat! The views were absolutely unbelievable, and even with the snow, the roads were always cleared, making travel stress-free. The playroom downstairs was a hit with our family—pool, TV, and a cozy space to gather and unwind. Plus, the beds were incredibly comfortable, ensuring we all got a great night's sleep. This place is an easy 100/10.
