Vacation rentals with lake access in New Zealand

We didn’t want to leave. Absolute magic in a very comfy relaxing well-loved home. We live in paradise here in Aotearoa and this place is certainly a perfect example of that. We can’t wait to come back.

Sarah was a wonderful host and her place felt like home. We had everything we needed for a week in Taupo. Close to a shopping market and the walking path on the lake, the place was quiet and peaceful.

A great spot to base a group of us out of for Tarawera weekend! Place was well appointed and super close to the finish line which made the many (many) trips back and forth much easier. Epic spot by the lake! We received a notice about closing the windows at dusk to avoid sandflies in the house on the evening of the day we arrived but were all well into race prep by that point so missed it entirely - and had to subsequently deal with lots of dead flies around. Notice should have come with the rest of the check-in details but other than that it was a flawless stay!

We booked Katrina's place for the Ironman in Taupo and it was amazing! The location was quiet, beautiful, and only 20 minutes from Taupo. It was walkable to a swimming area on the lake and to beautiful trails for running and biking. The house was immaculate and perfectly equipped for a week-long stay. My family and I were so comfortable here, I enjoyed it so much.

Beautiful roomy, clean, extremely quiet place to stay with the most amazing view overlooking lake Taupo. Kaz was very responsive & helpful with ideas for local eateries. We would definitely stay again.

We had a great time here. The house was comfortable and well appointed. The view from the deck is spectacular and ever changing. Walking, cycling and swimming opportunities metres from the house. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

We loved our stay and Gail was a great host. The property was perfect for our large group and we loved the swimming hole down by the river. I would definitely recommend this property for anyone wanting a remote get away.

Beautiful, peaceful and comfortable home. Kitchen and supplies were well-stocked and the beds were very comfortable. Open doors and windows let in great breeze. Napping on the patio was nice! Terri was very helpful with getting local info and always responded promptly. Very easy to live in!

Beautiful apartment right on the lake, very clean and well equipped. We caught a fiery sunrise over Queenstown as well. Would highly recommend and would love to stay here again!

We had a great stay at ray’s! The place was comfortable, in a good location, with stunning views of the lake right from the room (2 out of 3 rooms) and the outdoor seating area. Communication with Ray was good - he was proactive and responsive. Thanks again for a great stay, ray!

Great house with an outside deck, room are spacious and comfortable. The lot hissent in a calm house not far from the lake. Beautiful view and the sound of the birds for morning alarm. Very peaceful. Perfect stay if you like nature. And our host has been super helpful.

My husband and I were in town for the NZ Ironman. The location was absolutely perfect. Liz and her partner were very kind and welcoming. Would definitely recommend if visiting Taupo!

Alex’s place is the best stay during our travel in NZ. The interior is well maintained and the lakeside view is stunning. We highly recommend if you are going to visit Lake Wanaka!

What a gem. Lynne’s place was comfortable and with well stocked amenities. The accommodation was spotless and of course the views were amazing. Lynne was a great host, very informative. Could not fault our stay. Perfect.

We enjoyed our stay. It’s maybe 15 minutes from town which we really appreciated. The apartment is very nice and comfortable. When we arrived, there was a freshly baked loaf of bread! There was also coffee and other items in the fridge which was very thoughtful. Being by a lake(s), made this location extra special. We will definitely stay again when we get back to New Zealand!

Rob’s place was great , the back garden with views over the lake were spectacular. Really good to have the use of the kayaks. All in all a wonderful stay for 2 couples, plenty of room . Rob met us for check in and explained everything. Very helpful.

Great and cozy place to stay near Twizel, Mt Cook, and Lake Tekapo. Very clean.

Excellent layout and place to stay and work from.

The love shack is the perfect retreat. It’s truly a blend of rustic meets modern in its design. It’s perfect for a couple who want to explore the Rotorua area yet want to get away from the crowds. The birds on the lake and bird songs make for a serene experience. Unfortunately weather kept us off the kayaks but this area of the lake seems fairly protected. There is lots to do in the area if you have the time but you’re better off bringing and preparing your own dinner to take advantage of the lake!

Lovely kiwi Bach felt very relaxing Great location to walk to Okere falls store& beer garden! Enjoyed walking down through the garden to jetty for Sunset drinks & use of the kayaks to investigate the lake ! Sandy & Vernon

Perfect little get away, walking distance to lake, lots of home comforts like board games, fresh coffee, good TV, speaker, comfortable outdoor furniture. Would definitely recommend

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this beautiful cottage near Lake Pukaki. The entire family loved it! The cottage is stunning, with breathtaking views of the lake and surrounding mountains that you can enjoy from every angle. It truly exceeded our expectations. The cottage was equipped with everything we needed, making our stay incredibly comfortable and relaxing. It’s also easy to find, which added to the stress-free experience. We had the best time here and didn’t want to leave. It’s the perfect spot for a peaceful getaway, and we’re already planning to come back for a longer stay. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a serene holiday with unforgettable views!

We loved our stay at Adam's cottage. It is a beautiful cottage in a perfect location for walking down to the lake (5minutes!). We felt very comfortable and right at home, had everything we needed and Adam was helpful with a flexible check in. Perfect place to stay would highly recommended. Also loved the very pretty summer wildflowers in front of the cottage!
