Vacation rentals with a fireplace in Matamata-Piako District

This is the best Airbnb I’ve ever stayed in. My friends and I were floored by how beautiful the location was, and we’re already making plans to come back. We loved waking up to the birdsong every morning, and the fresh eggs and loaf of bread made it perfect. The house was so spacious and nice, and Hayley was an incredibly helpful host. 100/10

We all felt like home. All of we’re not happy to leave the house on checkout day. The house pulling us back. Thanks Ken for sharing his house to us. The neighbour was very friendly, he shared us some strawberries. Thanks to them as well. I highly recommend this house to people who are looking for accommodation near Tauranga, Hamilton or Rotorua. All three are not far.

We had a great stay here over Christmas. Plenty of space, beautiful surrounding and extremely clean. Highly recommended!

I won’t be able to say enough great things in the space limits of this review. This house is luxurious and like home at the same time. Marina is instantly helpful and kind. We arrived late at night, having missed dinner because of our travel plans. Marina had food in the house for us. We made sandwiches before we unpacked and stood at the breakfast island to eat, singing thoughtful Marina’s praises. We got into the hot spa while we washed clothes and promptly slept like well cared for babies. The amenities and the gardens are stand outs. Our only regret is that we could not stay longer. We loved, loved, loved this house. Marina is an exceptional host.

We stayed at Charlotte’s house in Cambridge and couldn’t be happier with our stay. Charlotte was kind enough to allow us to bring our 2 dogs who thoroughly enjoyed the large, fenced and easily accessible garden. The bedrooms were comfy, the lounge area with smart tv was inviting and the kitchen was well equipped, with everything being clean and homely. It really was a home away from home and we felt at ease there, making it a perfect base for our stay in the Waikato. We enjoyed its close proximity to Cambridge and really recommend the Suburban Kitchen around the corner for brunch and coffee! Charlotte was always available to answer any questions and to check we were ok and could find everything she’d thoughtfully organised for us. We loved sitting on the deck and enjoyed eating outside while our son had plenty of room to play. We hope Charlotte will have us back as we’d love to be regulars! Thanks Charlotte! Definitely one of our best experiences.

We had a great stay at Wendy’s place. It is a lovely house and very convenient to hobbiton and also to Matamata and not far to Cambridge. We hope to stay again 😄

Josie & Rob were amazing hosts. The home was spotless and beautifully appointed. Everything we needed was right there and so comfortable. We were attending a wedding in Cambridge and the property was the perfect place to get ourselves organised in a calm and very comfortable place. The home is stunningly furnished with wonderful art and an outstanding garden. I would definitely stay there again and recommend to anyone looking for accommodation within an easy drive of Cambridge.

Our family of four was seeking a secluded retreat where we could pause, unwind, and recharge—Yana's home was the perfect place. Perched high on a hill, it offered breathtaking ocean views while nestled in the tranquil rural mountains, surrounded by the soothing sounds of nature. The pool, trampoline, and spa kept our 13- and 11-year-olds happily entertained. Every comfort had been thoughtfully provided, from a high-end coffee machine and excellent Wi-Fi to luxurious linens and a quality TV and sound system. The retreat is just a few minutes from town, close to all the regular tourist 'must-sees'. Our four-night stay was absolutely perfect. Thank you, Yana!

Gaewyn’s place was kept beautifully inside and out! They are both lovely people to stay around and chat withand had the additional bonus of Miles (dog) who was always there to greet us when we returned home. Would definitely recommend and stay again if I can back to New Zealand ☺️

Really beautiful place to stay, quite close to Hobbiton and Matamata. Nice distance from other houses if you're looking for a more private location. Caren is lovely and really responsive.

What a fantastic place to stay and enjoy a rural setting. You won’t find better hosts than Kaaren and Tim. The house is super modern and has an interesting history. We will definitely stay here again.

Everything was perfect. Most importantly, the house gave my family of 4 the perfect time together on vacation. Check in was easy and flexible as we left Tahiti at 3AM in the morning and were exhausted. The house was so clean, including the bathrooms and kitchen. All bedding was cool, soft, linen. She has the most inviting window nook that called you to sit in. We opened the huge sliding doors in the kitchen each night to enjoy the warm summer nights. Georgia left a bottle of Lewis Road milk and Whittaker chocolates, which were local favorites and we fell in love. There were games and cards we took advantage of. The Italian restaurant she recommended in town, Alpino, had the best lamb shoulder we've ever tasted. We enjoyed walking around the lake in the middle of town. Cambridge was centrally located, not touristy and you felt like a part of the community. Ample choices for grocery shopping and all of our activities were about 60-75 minutes away.

This place is absolutely INCREDIBLE! I can't recommend it enough. We booked it for a night for a hens party and the look on guests faces when they arrived was priceless. Such a hidden gem in Katikati, and well worth the drive there if you are considering staying. The house was spectacular and so accommodating to a large group of people, with a lovely courtyard for outdoor activities. The little cottages were also a lovely surprise for guests and so well maintained. Laura's communication was also excellent. I would love to visit again one day. . . and stay for a week!

Carol-Ann was a wonderful host to me and my partner. The property is beautiful, lovely gardens and super cool house. We felt very welcome there and made great friends with her cat. There is also a nice view of the hills from the house, Maungatautari etc. Very close to cambridge, and all its cafes, and Carol-Ann prepared us breakfast every morning with her home made bread. Thank you Carol-Ann for a wonderful stay!

The Villa is super stunning and rustic with all and more than needed ammenities. Our group thoroughly enjoyed spending an evening here. Laura was also super helpful and quick with communication and clear instructions. Definitely would love to go back for a longer stay and possibly even make use of the space for events. We had a huge week looking after a school group while staying at Jacqui's place and the only negative was that we could not spend more time at her place around the pool or enjoying the incredible grounds
