Apartment vacation rentals in Machico

Good communication with the host and nearby airport fits my requirements. The apartment is too big for two people; it is better to rent for four people :) Thanks for hosting us and being responsive regarding our delayed flight:)

Communication with the hosts was perfect, from checking in, through getting some local recommendations to checking out. The owners are very thoughtful of their guests, there was a basket of local goodies waiting for us in the apartment when we arrived. The only thing I could complain about the apartment are the beds. They're just 140cm wide, quite hard, bouncy and very squeaky. Other than that, all was perfect, the kitchen is perfectly equiped. The place is very peaceful, it was just us and the ocean. Highly recommended!

My husband and I are in our 60's, we did not hire a car but relied on the buses. The Number two bus is right outside, the number 1 & 3 are down the hill and a bit of a walk, easier for us if we walk a bit of a zig zag- up one block stop for a wee sip and then continue :) the number 4 bus stops about one block down and over a block. We took the bus to Lido and enjoyed the swimming complex with a huge pool, lockers , showers. We enjoyed a few jazz venues, walking along the promenade and roof top views. The apartment was lovely and had a nice cross breeze and a washer/dryer. We would book again. :)

Madeira Nests is a great choice if you want to be in the center of Funchal and have all the amenities you could think of. The kitchen is very well equipped. The apartment is decorated nicely and offers some tranquility and privacy in the middle of the city. The supermarket is right around the corner and nearly all Funchal highlights are at walking distance. Daniel is a great host and was very welcoming and pro active with recommendations for activities and restaurants in the area. Would definitely book again.

For the December holidays, this place is magical—you’re just steps away from all the festive action. You can walk downstairs and instantly immerse yourself in the holiday spirit, with everything beautifully lit and lively. The apartment offers stunning views of the city from the balcony, a perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee or an al fresco dinner. The kitchen is well-equipped, making it easy to feel at home if you want to cook and enjoy a homemade meal. The entire apartment is impeccably clean, and Manny is an exceptional host—polite, friendly, and incredibly helpful. We’re already planning to return and wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone visiting Funchal

The accommodation was located on a quiet hillside spot with wonderful views from the living-dining room and terrace to the valley and the sea. A small bar with shop was right next door, a supermarket just minutes away by car. For us an ideal place to relax and for excursions in the region.

Catherine is an amazing welcoming host and super responsive. The flat is simply perfect, new and clean with fantastic view and rooftop pool. The ocean view is unmatched and restaurants and harbour across the street. Thank you, Catherine!

We loved our stay in Funchal. The apartament is in a great location, close to the parking lot. Place is very clean with a great ocean view from the balcony. The host is very responsive.

Great place that matches the pictures:) You can hear the waves rushing and are at the sunniest point of the island. The communication was good and it was handled very carefully with wishes and criticism.

We stayed at Marco’s apartment with our 1-year-old baby and spent three wonderful weeks there. The accommodation is located in the sunniest part of the island. From the 4th floor, there’s a stunning view of the ocean from both terraces where you can watch the sunset too. The living room is bathed in sunlight all day and overlooks a peaceful park above the plaza. In my opinion, the apartment is even cozier than it appears in the photos and is fully equipped with everything you might need. We cooked and did laundry quite a lot during our stay. There are several restaurants, a hair salon, and a toy shop in the same building as the apartment. Across the street, there’s a greengrocer, and just a few steps away is a shopping mall. The playground is located in park just a block away from the apartment, and at the beginning of the street, there’s a traditional bakery filled with local delicacies. Communication with Marco was very smooth, he’s truly a wonderful host!

Lovely apartment in a fabulous location right in the heart of the old town. Plenty of fabulous restaurants and bars on your doorstep. Cable car is very near. Outside terrace is very pleasant and lets you make the most of the lovely weather. Would definitely recommend this apartment.

Here’s my review of the stay: In short, it was simply perfect! The apartments were clean and had absolutely everything we needed. The view of the ocean and the sunsets was our favorite part. We felt completely at home!

We really enjoyed the stay - the sunsets from the balcony were our evening highlight! The apartment was great, there was nothing missing. Nellita was always available for questions and very helpful - we'd love to come back!

This was the perfect stay for my Madeira getaway! I was greeted by my host who was friendly and welcoming and showed me everything I needed to know, and then he left me to enjoy the spectacular view of the ocean. My host was always available to answer questions and even helped me with a transportation recommendation to get to and from the airport. I found the location to be ideal for everything that I wanted to do, and grocery shopping was close by. I am already thinking about my next trip to Madeira and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

The flat is very clean, it has everything you need for your stay and it is close to the sea. We enjoyed every moment of our holiday, it was great to be able to hear the sea from the flat. I can absolutely recommend the flat and the location, and as a plus the coffee and the baked goods at the bakery below the flats are just great. If you like jogging, this is also the perfect place for that. You can run from the flat to the historical city centre and then run along the sea and watch the waves. Just an amazing experience. There are quite some hiking trails nearby, so after some beach time you can easily go for a wonderful hike. The hosts are very nice and friendly. Overall I can only recommend this place.

Great place to stay, responsive host, no complaints!

We felt very comfortable with Susana. Communication went smoothly. The place was awesome. Great surroundings and great starting point for all activities. We would book again immediately!

Leonel is super friendly and helpful. The apartment is clean and in the quiet area. It was hard to leave, especially the SPA and swimming pool :( Big parking space, highly recommended!

We had a great stay at Paula's place. She responded very quickly to messages and welcomed us herself and showed us around. She also gave us a list of various recommendations- both for places to visit and very good restaurants. She also helped us get a good deal for a car rental. The apartment itself was super well equipped. Paula had even left for us beach towels and a fresh bag of coffee which we found a nice gesture. The location is very good, close to cafes, a big supermarket and down the stairs to the beach. Yes it's steep to get there but this is Madeira! There's not much to dislike. Maybe the bed was a bit hard and narrow but we still slept quite well tired after long days. The water in the pool was also rather on a cold side but it didn't stop the kids from swimming every day.

Betty met us at the apartment and she was very friendly and welcoming. She explained everything about the apartment to us and sent links with lots of recommendations for Funchal! The apartment was very clean and tidy and the welcome pack that Betty provided was great! The beds were extremely comfortable and although the apartment is on a busy road we were not bothered by the traffic noise. It was great sitting on the balcony having morning coffee and the twinkling lights of the vista at night was very relaxing. The location was near to both the sea front and the old town. The walk back is uphill but we soon got used to that! Fantastic apartment- would recommend and will certainly stay again if we come back to Funchal in the future.

Ana was a great host and her apartment is quite nice. We were very comfortable there for a six night stay. There is a wonderful view and the location serves as easy access to the scenic sites of the western end of Madeira.

So happy we found this place, small but well planned and the terrace makes feel much bigger. Fantastic hosting by A Home In Madeira, proactive and friendly. The jacuzzi was great after hikes on colder days (stayed in January). Not very walkable neighborhood but we walked down to Ponta Do Sol one night and it's doable but quite a hike. Definitely a5star place if you've got a car and are looking for a peaceful place!

Amazing and it was just as advertised! The place itself was incredible-beautifully furnished, extremely clean, and located in a perfect spot. The spectacular city views, comfortable amenities, and overall ambiance made it feel like a true home away from home. Betty was amazing, providing excellent communication and making sure we had everything we needed for a great stay. The only improvement I could suggest for the property would be to have a washer-dryer combo instead of just a washer. With a combo, we could load the washer before leaving the apartment and ensure the laundry was dry when we came back. As it was, we were technically only able to do one load a day since we didn't spend much time inside the apartment. However, there were plenty of racks to dry the clothes so we managed. Overall, the property itself was fantastic, and I would love to stay there again.

Even though our stay was short and during a tropical storm we still had a great time and will definitely be visiting again! Leonardo was very helpful and left clear instructions, 10/10 from us!
