We loved the home! The unique design and decorating inside were very pleasing to the sight and fit right in with the comfortable feeling we had the whole time we were there. Log Cabin by the Woods, Creek, Mountains, Hot Tub

MartinRating, 5 stars4 weeks ago
We spent two days here and it was a fantastic experience. The location is beautiful, with a breathtaking view right outside the front door of the building. The beds and seating were comfortable, and we had no issue finding our way around with the help of the guide book provided by the host. Wi-Fi was available during our visit, and stable during the calm weather we experienced. Smart self check-in was simple and quick, with no issues checking out. The interior and exterior of the building were beautifully crafted, and the entire space was well-maintained and clean. The host has done an excellent job with both accurately describing the property as well as aiding guests in navigating to it through the rural area. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a quiet retreat with the family.

The ‘Field’ House - Rustic cabin

MoonRating, 5 stars3 months ago
Laney’s home was a beautiful retreat with an awe inspiring scenic Oklahoma backdrop. The fenced in, large backyard was perfect for my family and I to relax in around the fire pit. The deck was a great place to drink a cup of coffee and soak in the amazing sunrises and sunsets. The kitchen served as a convenient homey place to make our holiday meal and was equipped with far more than plates, pans, and coffee mugs. It truly felt like a second home by the end of our stay. Having a full laundry room came in extra handy. Our host/co-host were responsive and flexible when it came to a change in plans when we ended up needing to extend our stay due to an unexpected funeral as well as when we locked ourselves out of the property in the wake of attending funeral and family functions in the community. The spacious property allowed the five of us to find personal privacy throughout our stay to give us time to rest and fellowship together through the holiday and our bereavement.

Hidden Oaks Log Cabin near lake w/ NO Airbnb FEES

ChristinaRating, 5 stars6 days ago
We had a great time! Lake access for Lake of the Arbuckles is less than five minutes, and Turner Falls was an easy 10-12 minute drive if that. Beds were comfy, firepit was great and we had plenty of space for our family meet-up and to recharge. Thanks for a great getaway!

Native Waters Lodge

MicheleRating, 5 stars9 months ago
Was the much needed break from a busy life that I didn’t know I needed until I got there. No schedules to follow, laid back time table to catch up with my best friend since childhood. Morning coffee on the porch in the breeze and finished our day on the porch listening to the sounds of summer in the woods surrounding the place. Did NOT want to leave.

Lake Texoma Cottage w/Ping Pong & Pet Friendly

MadisonRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
She was such a sweet lady! Very accommodating to last minute changes & very responsive to getting back to you! Loved her home, we all kept saying it’s what we would love to have as a lake house. So serene and peaceful! The fireplace was even a better perk to have due to us getting rained out the entire trip, but the house more than made up for it!

Lake Texoma Sandy Creek Cove Retreat

SkylarRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
It was perfect, peaceful and the best little spot for a little family time. Sandy was everything you'd want in a host. They allowed us access to the kayaks and paddle boards they had. Their dogs on the property was the highlight for my children. Very friendly. The place was clean and neat and super cozy. We'd recommend to anyone. Thank you Sandy for the most pleasant experience.

Twin Lakes Haven Indoor Pool Private Lake GameRoom

BretRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We had a great time! We played games, swam in the pool, used the canoe and paddleboat, and cooked smores in one of the fire pits. The minor questions and issues we had were taken care of right away. Besides the beautiful property, this was close to the Chickasaw Cultural Center, Arbuckle Wilderness, and plenty of restaurants. We would definitely stay here again.

Tranquil Texoma Lake House w/private lake

Bri'AnaRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
This place is wonderful in every sense of the word. I didn't even engage in all of the activities offered and I still had an amazing weekend. My family and I were there to enjoy each other's time during an otherwise very hard weekend and with the tranquility this place exuded, we were so far removed from any heaviness or sadness that would have taken place in any other case. Wonderful hosts, great communication, cozy and inviting home. Will definitely book again!!

Lakefront with Hot Tub near Turner Falls

BenRating, 5 stars5 months ago
From check in to check out, owner was responsive and great to work with. House was clean and orderly and a good size for our group. The bunk room was a little tight for 3 adults, but we knew that going in and so that was expected. We enjoyed having the games to play and the ability to watch sports and grill outdoors. Would definitely stay here again!

The Green House, Guest Favorite!

RussellRating, 5 stars1 month ago
The Greenhouse was very clean, very comfortable, and quite. The indoor photos were as advertised. Slept better than at home. The location is a short drive to the Prothros Conference Center, where we attended a conference. The February weather was too cold for much exploration from the home.

Your guide to Lake Murray

All About Lake Murray

Two hours south of Oklahoma City, this artificial lake was originally created as a Public Works Project during the Great Depression and has been welcoming crowds ever since. Lake Murray is a popular spot for water sports, and you can often find people gliding by on kayaks and canoes. There is a small marina where you can rent pontoons or take a quick dip in the lake's refreshing water.

The lake is surrounded by Lake Murray State Park, which offers 25 miles of hiking and biking trails ranging from easy-going nature walks to six-mile mixed-used trails. The nearby Red River is lined with even more parks and wildlife areas as well as historic sites, such as the Civil War-era Fort Washita and the Chickasaw White House, the former home of the Chickasaw Nation Governor for most of the 20th century.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Lake Murray

With relatively moderate weather throughout the year, there is no bad time to secure your Lake Murray cabin rental. During spring and summer, the area’s wildflowers bloom, creating a sea of coral, pink, and blue. From June to August, there are occasional outdoor concerts in the neighboring town of Ardmore. This is also the warmest time of the year, perfect for outdoor activities like kayaking and canoeing. Things start to slow down again in the fall. In November, Ardmore hosts an arts and crafts festival and food fair. Towards the end of November a festival featuring more than 160 holiday light displays.

Top things to do in Lake Murray

Lake Murray State Park

Lake Murray State Park is Oklahoma’s largest state park, featuring 12,500 acres of rolling hills covered with lush forests in addition to the beautiful Lake Murray. The dazzling blue waters of the lake offer many opportunities for water sports such as stand-up paddleboarding, boating, and kayaking, as well as swimming at Sunset Beach. Tucker Tower, a large stone structure, stands high up on a hill above the lake and currently serves as a museum where you can learn more about the park’s history.

Red River

Stretching more than 1,300 miles, the Red River forms the border between Texas and Oklahoma. The river gets its name from its unique ochre-tinted water. Just south of Lake Murray, the river begins to widen significantly and resembles more of a lake than a river. On either side of the river, you can find wildlife refuges and state parks, as well as a handful of museums.

Fort Washita

Located at the eastern end of the Red River, you’ll find the Civil War-era Fort Washita. Although the fort was mostly destroyed in 1865, much of it has been restored and is currently open to the public. During your visit, you can witness Civil War reenactments and visit the small onsite museum.
