Vacation rentals with lake access in Hidalgo County

This is our second time staying at Peculiar nest. My husband and I celebrated Valentine's day with a nice cookout with nature , beautiful birds and such a romantic lakefront view at Ethereal cabin. Cozy and clean cabin with everything you could need. It's a nice hidden gem definitely feels like a vacation without leaving town for us. The hosts are very kind , attentive and responsive. Every time we come we just dont wanna leave. Surely will be visiting soon.

I can't say enough great things! Beyond beautiful location right on the lake. Plenty of areas to sit and enjoy the view. If you're into birds then this will be heaven! Our room was gorgeous and had everything we needed. The shared kitchen was fully stocked and lovely. The owners were very sweet and helpful with places to go eat and explore. A few amazing food and coffee spots we would recommend: Zen Asian Bistro and Sushi- all you can eat sushi for $24. The orange chicken is so good! HamburgeLunas- the popper burger is amazing! Ana Liz Taqueria- great guac and corn ribs! Any taco you get you'll love! Labyrinth BCA- Great bagel sandwiches or just plain and the coffee hit the spot! Reset Coffee- in house sauces were so tasty. No sugar free options. Birding spots we loved besides this property: Bentsen-Rio Grande State Park- loved renting their bikes. Lots of feeding spots and blinds. Edinburg Scenic Wetlands and World Birding Center- two large reservoirs plus several ponds

Fantastic location on a resaca with many birds. There are numerous decks right on the water for great views.

We had a fantastic stay at the Birdhouse! The home was spacious, comfortable, clean, cozy, and well-equipped, making it perfect for our family getaway. The location was peaceful and relaxing, with easy access to all the shops. The thoughtful touches, such as the welcome basket, well-stocked kitchen, and comfortable beds, made our stay even more enjoyable. Our entire family loved the lake, the grill, and green spaces, we felt right at home. The host was incredibly responsive and welcoming, ensuring we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We really recommend the Birdhouse and look forward to returning in the future!

This place is a birder’s paradise! The property is gorgeous and the room was delightful. I loved all the personal touches that the owners put in - very thoughtful and meaningful decoration. Everything was super clean and the ac/heat both work great (yes, needed both during my stay!). Thank you and I will definitely be back!

Very spacious and it was the perfect place for my family! Each of my kids had their own room and I love the open concept of the living room and kitchen! One thing that stood out is that we could park our cars in the garage!!! I will definitely stay there again! Jerry was a gracious host and he answered my texts within minutes!

Amazing stay with an awesome location and lakefront view. The host was welcoming and ensured I had everything I needed. The place was clean and comfortable, with all necessary amenities. Loved waking up to the stunning lake view every morning. Highly recommend!
