Our second visit to Sunset Cottage and another wonderful stay. The cottage is beautifully positioned to give a view over rolling hills and colourful fields. A few minutes to Oamaru historic precinct and a gateway to Kakanui, Moeraki, Shag Point and the rest of the amazing North Otago coast. The house itself is sparkling clean and has all the comforts of a home away from home. Andrea is a lovely host and her thoughtful touches (fresh eggs and lavender from their farm) are very much appreciated. Buddy the dog is a highlight; he's the best-natured dog you'll ever have the privilege of meeting. Needless to say, very highly recommended!

WE stayed one night at the Villa. This is a full house with full kitchen and three bedrooms - we only stayed in one bedroom. The bed was comfortable, it was quiet and nice and dark and we slept very well. The water was very hot and plentiful. Breakfast basics were provided and much appreciated. The house is convenient to downtown Oamaru. We highly recommend the Villa and will stay there again when in Oamaru.

Jenny’s place was peaceful. She greeted us upon arrival and was friendly and welcoming. The outdoor spaces were beautiful and we loved seeing the highland cows. The location was great — close to town but just far enough away to feel remote.

Belida prepared wine and cheese for us which we thoroughly enjoyed. She was a very friendly and helpful host and very responsive. This place has the best view I have stayed in New Zealand. It is well ventilated, easy to cook and the living room is great for chatting. There are 3 cozy bedrooms and the master has a separate bathroom which was very convenient. It was also very clean and easy to check in. I would definitely come back here again.

A charming Craftsman style home with an amazing unobstructed view of the ocean and downtown. The place was spotless, private and quiet. Easy access to downtown (two blocks or so) and to the penguin center. The place with its architecture and feel fits the vibe of Oamaru perfectly. The art and decor were just so well curated. We will definitely stay here again. A few items for others (that were not issues for us) is that the location is on a hill with some grades to get from street to the house and to get downtown. The kitchen is not modern but clean and functional and was fine for us. We will be back, say hi to the penguins for us in the meantime

Fabulous view. Could walk to the Moeraki Boulders (45 min) and short walk (10 min) to local watering hole (Moeraki Tavern). Stunning view from Whaler's Point also walkable. Short drive to lighthouse. Seals plentiful and we also got lucky and saw penguin!

We had an excellent stay at the tiny home. We got to luxuriate in the hot tub and the house was well suited for cooking our meals. The bed was very comfortable and we even got a visit from Van the cat who appeared at the door but didn’t really want to come in, just to say hello. Highly recommend.

The view was stunning! We enjoyed some of the provided board games on a rainy day, which was a plus for us. The way to the beach was - as expected - a little steep, but still okay and manageable.
