Waterfront vacation rentals in Far North District

This property was the cleanest and best provided that I have stayed in in NZ.The owners were never obtrusive but always available. A car is necessary but all amenities are within easy reach. I highly recommend this property for families .

Swiss Chalet is located in central Paihia. The beach closest to the accommodation is 40 m away but it is rocky. However, 2 beaches, a short walk from the BNB are both sandy, clean, amazing. I liked staying in the main town of Paihia because there are lots of restaurants, shopping, and of course 2 beaches to chose from. The ferry to Russell is very close. Tour bus pick up 2 blocks away. The accommodation is not fancy but definitely adequate. Having a small kitchen and washer for my 1 week stay was perfect. Hosts were friendly and informative. It is by no means luxury but it is perfect for comfort and convenience.

One of the things that’s hard about finding a place in a new place is the sense of relative distances. We were further outside of town than we had expected, but man was it worth it. The views down to the bay were spectacular. And being from the northern hemisphere, the night sky is of particular interest. We were lucky with high pressure, so being just far enough outside of town gave us breathtaking star gazing. Jo was so helpful in making suggestions for places to see, quickly able to help us prioritize based on the way we roll, a good mix of walking and driving, a wonderful resource and real hospitality pro. Already looking forward to our next visit.

Perfectly located beachfront in centre of town. Everything to hand we needed and more. A great base for exploring Bay of Islands

It’s a special place right by the water, it has beautiful views and the place is thoughtful prepared by the host. Anita and Matthew are so friendly and easy to communicate. We would love to come back again!

An absolute dream house! Stunning apartment with a gorgeous view. You definitely feel like spending a holiday with style :) Breakfast at Seaside restaurant are mind blowing! Best coffee in town. Plus! You get a discount :) We had the best time there. Will definitely recommend and we will repeat! Thanks!

Jane's place couldn't have been more perfect. The space itself and the views from the deck are gorgeous-- we wish we could have stayed longer. Jane was an excellent host- helped us work out the details of what we wanted to do, and had suggestions for activities that weren't on our radar. She went out of her way to see to our needs but was always considerate of our privacy. We give this our highest recommendation.

John’s place was absolutely fantastic—exactly what we were looking for! The location, right next to the ferry in Opua, couldn’t have been more convenient, giving us easy access to explore the area, whether by ferry, boat, or car. The boathouse is a truly unique experience, built right on the water, offering stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere throughout our stay. It was such a treat to wake up and hear the gentle sounds of the water just below us. The accommodation was spotless, with the kitchen and bathrooms immaculately clean, which made us feel right at home. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and every detail of the space was thoughtfully designed for comfort and relaxation. We appreciated how well-stocked and organized everything was, from the kitchen essentials to the fresh linens. John was an excellent host, always responsive and helpful, ensuring we had everything we needed. We can’t wait to come back!!

Hosts extremely friendly & helpful. Found extra toys for our Grandchildren including beach toys. Nothing missing! Can’t recommend highly enough.

Great stay, private location, a bit over priced for how isolated it is

A wonderful stay at Kip and Lyn’s Bay Retreat. From start to finish, they were fabulous hosts, and you couldn’t ask for better. We particularly appreciated their flexibility in arrangements to fit our family, and they went out of their way to allow us to maximise the benefit of being in the middle of the Bay of Islands. In terms of the property, it was all you could ask for: spacious and stylish, immaculately clean, the bedding all super comfortable, well-appointed bathrooms with excellent showers, and a kitchen with everything you need, plus a BBQ to allow for beach living. The location itself is magical with gorgeous views over the bay and an excellent swimming beach. Undoubtedly one of the very best places we have holidayed in all of our years. Our thanks to Kip and Lyn for making it possible to share such a wonderful family vacation in the Bay.

Perfect location, and enough things to do in the area to keep you occupied for days and days, found it hard to leave Northland! Hoping to come back here for a longer visit. Friendly neighbours and a gorgeous view

My husband and I fell in love with Mark and Sally's home. It was difficult to leave! The setting is exquisite and beautifully serene. The house is so comfortable, spacious and we particularly loved the deck and its spectacular views! Mark and Sally were fabulous hosts and made us feel completely at home. We look forward to visiting again one day!

Fantastic place! We thoroughly enjoyed the location with the beach right by its doorstep and enjoyed the walks to Opua township on one side and Paihia the other. The house is clean and the view from both the deck and living area is amazing. Jane and Tony were welcoming and we especially loved the freshly baked homemade sourdough bread.
