Ito San is an amazing host and a very kind person who went above and beyond to ensure our stay at Moon and Sky was comfortable and enjoyable. From meeting us at the train station upon arrival to providing a thorough tour of the house and offering helpful recommendations for local events, Ito San's hospitality was truly outstanding. The room and the house was very clean, spacious, and well-equipped during our long-term stay, and we appreciated the opportunity to interact with locals and other guests during the weekends. This is by far the best Airbnb experience I have ever had! I highly recommend Moon and Sky to anyone seeking a long or short-term stay in Wakayama, and I can't thank Ito San enough for making our time there so memorable.

Mr. Natsu San is a great host, greet us when we arrive and give us a detailed room tour, and also some local points of interest. The house is very clean with everything you will need. Overall I would recommend this place to anyone who visits Wakayama city.

Kiyotaki-san was extremely friendly and welcoming. Even before booking he provided recommendations on staying in Wakayama as it was our first time visiting. He provided snacks and heat packs for our children knowing that it was winter and even matcha cookies for our family. He even helped us to call for a reservation as it required a Japanese speaker. Everything in his home is clean and easy to use with necessities provided. The only challenge was that the second bedroom did not have heating which made it very cold at night. The distance to station was not far arnd 10mins which normally should be easy but in strong winter cold was a little tough for us and the kids. We loved the proximity to a big LAWSONS though and the wonderful snacks to offer! We enjoyed our stay at the home and thank you for your kindness. :)

This is a unique place filled with antique atmosphere. It is quite dark at night, each room with 2~3 warm light light bulb. I saw milky way during my stay. Eiko-san is very caring and heart-warming.

A wonderful experience staying here. I highly recommend it. First, Kazumasa & his wife are great hosts, very accommodating and responsive to the guest's preferences and needs. As a digital nomad, I was mixing hiking & tourism activities with several hours of work per day. The spacious house gave me a lot of privacy, and I enjoyed peace & quiet. I loved the kitchen too - equipment & utensils were all new. Second, I found the location convenient. I watched the sunset several times at the nearby bridge. I also hiked, as Myoji is very near one of the trailheads to Koyasan. In the neighborhood, stores are within walking distance (convenience store, grocery, pharmacy, bakery, cafe). A large supermarket is 15 min by bike. Finally, Myoji is for people who can see beauty in small things, in nature and cultural heritage. Not everything needs to be biggest, tallest, groundbreaking. I enjoyed radish from the hosts' garden, & specialty places recommended in the lovely travel guide :)

Stay at a Tea Farmer's Inn in Kumano Hongu

ChristianRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
What a fantastic place, the owners are both fantastic and they cook the best meals we had in our Japan holidays, you can see and feel the passion for what they do, they own a tea farm and their tea is really delicious, they are very accommodating and they will help you with anything, definitely worth every single dollar. Thank you again

[World Heritage Site Koyasan B] Terakoya Retreat House IKKKOSHO (6 tatami mats for 1 person + Japanese-style room with studio)

MariaRating, 5 stars4 months ago
This home was a good place to rest and reset. A bit farther from the temple stays and main road. The shared spaces in the first floor were nice and clean. The rooms upstairs are beautiful and traditional. We were the only guests there when we stayed, so it was as if having the house to ourselves. Overall a good experience.

The host is very friendly. The accommodation is also very good, with a clean kitchen, toilet and bath room. You need to bring your own toiletries, and it is a bit far from the station.
