The Gatlinburg Trail is on the west end of Gatlinburg and an easy hike for all. You can even take a stroller on this one! It's a beautiful hike on a well maintained trail that follows the river. Take your time and take in the views along the way. Take some amazing photos along the river or on the foot bridge. Take your opportunity to get a picture of your group in front of the Smoky Mountains National Park sign as well (only a 5 minute walk from the trailhead in Gatlinburg).

The Gatlinburg Trail is the only trail on the TN side of the Smokies on which visitors can walk dogs. The trail travels 1.9 miles one-way from the Sugarlands Visitor Center to the outskirts of the city of Gatlinburg, TN. It is relatively flat and runs through the forest along side the West Prong of the Little Pigeon River. The trail offers beautiful views of the river, which at one point is crossed by a pedestrian foot bridge. Foundations and chimneys of several old homesites are visible along the trail.

An easy hike thru our beautiful Smoky Mountains just at the end of the Parkway in Gatlinburg. 2 miles to the visitor center. Once you get there, travel the extra .5 miles up to Cataract Falls. This is the only trail that dogs are allowed on as well.
