- Copacobana handles 4-5” southerly swells
- Terrigal Haven works on massive (6+”) southerly swells
- Pelicans (north of The Entrance) is good when all else is flat and you are desperate for a wave. It picks up any swell that’s about.

Terrigal haven tends to have the smallest waves and is best for toddlers. There are Pelicans on the boat ramp that eat leftovers of fish caught by fishermen. There are beautiful views from the top of a hill (The Skillion), where you might be lucky enough to see whales.

North Avoca beach has rock pools which are fun to play in and it has good surfing waves. We have found octopus, fish and crabs in the rock pools at different times

Wamberal is a long open beach which is good for walks. The cafe above the Surf Life Saving Club has great food.

Avoca beach has a large ocean children’s pool and is more protected from swell. A great café is adjacent to the beach and there is a large enclosed park for children to play in.
