Sightseeing

Paroikia is the capital city of Paros with nearly 4000 residents. Take a photo at the windmill, located at the port, trademark of Paros! Take a walk at the small alleys of the old town and admire the genuine Cycladic architecture! Travel agencies, banks, shops, rentals, pharmacies, restaurants, café, you can find everything you want! For more romance visit saint Constantine church located at the castle of Paroikia and take a photo and enjoy the beautiful sunset. You definitely have to visit Ekatodapiliani church, one of the most known churches in Greece.

Lefkes is one of my favourite village of Paros! The former capital of Paros (during piracy the capital cities were built in the middle of the island and not by the sea) is full of classic Cycladic architecture. Take a walk at the small alleys, don't be afraid of loosing the way back ,become local for a moment. Try to find the central church of the village where there is a small restaurant- café and catch your breath for a moment. From Lefkes starts the longest path for walking ,about 3,5 km, the old Byzantine path paved with Parian marble. It will take you about 45 minutes and is ideal for mountain biking.

Take a bottle of water and a light with you and go to explore Parian marble quarry. Parian marble is well known all over the world. The marble of Acropolis, temple of Apollonas in Delos, temple of Pasidonas in Sounio,Thisio in Athens, temple of Solomon, Afrodite of Milos,Niki of Samothrace and many more. All these monuments are made out of Parian marble and you can visit the exact place that all this marble was mined. Just remember to enter from the south gate! Trully magnificent!

It is a small fishing village where you can eat as a local! The fish taverns there are usually owned by fishermen and everything is as fresh as it can! It is really beautiful and calm to take a walk there and have everything you need in close distance. I also suggest this village to families as it has sea, food and playground with really easy access!

The old Byzantine path is probably the most well known path for hicking in Paros. Starting from Lefkes and ends up at Piso Livadi,it is the path that connected the former capital of Paros and the port of Piso Livadi from where ships where loaded with Parian marble for trade.

Go for swimming?

Probably the best beach in Paroikia! You can reach it by car or with the small boats from the main port!
