Iconic, bustling and colorful, Portobello Road Market is a true testament to the history and people of London. Although the area's gentrification over the past decade or so has seen a shift in the vibe towards the more upmarket, it remains a wonderful and worthy destination. Crazy market day is Saturday

The electric Elephant, with its quirky decor and no-frills food, is a firm fave among locals round Elephant&Castle. Inside, it just slightly resembles a boho Eastern European aunt's kitschy kitchen circa 1960, but that can only be a good thing. :) The food is pretty standard - you can get your breakfast classics all day long and there's also a selection of sandwiches , salads and hot stuff for your lunchtime needs.
