Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Hilo

The house was well-furnished with modern appliances and a kitchen stocked with the cooking essentials. Sparkling clean as well. Host was very responsive and even let us check in a few hours early when we were rained out of our day hike. As the listing states, it does not have air conditioning, but it does have ceiling fans so it was cool enough for us in mid-spring, though still humid.

Dara’s place was amazing! It was very comfortable, peaceful, beautifully surrounded with awesomely colored plants and fruit trees. There were a lot of amenities. The keurig coffee machine was a definite plus as you could enjoy your morning coffee inside looking out to the backyard or at the outdoor table and chairs at the front of the house. Her place was very clean and spacious for myself and my two friends. The living room couch and chair was very comfortable as well. Everything was well organized and not cluttered at all. Very easy to maintain. I’m grateful for the indoor washer and dryer as it allowed me to leave with clean clothes versus having a luggage full of dirty clothes. The ironing board and iron really came in handy as well to press the clothes I needed to wear for the event I was attending. I would highly recommended staying at Dara’s place again! 5 stars and then some for sure!

Our family of 5 enjoyed our stay at the Whale House! The set up is a little different because the upstairs and downstairs are separate but it was fine since we have older kids. The bedrooms and living room/kitchen area were all spacious. The outdoor areas were the best- we loved being able to walk across the street and sit by the ocean. We liked eating breakfast on the deck and the outdoor shower was a unique feature. It was a little more than we usually spend on a stay but overall was worth it for the experience.

Morris was an amazing host. Kind, hospitable and responsive to any request for help and recommendations. The house has everything you need right down to the little details. This made our stay very relaxing. The house was easy to find. Shops are within a 10min drive. Food trucks right next door if you don't feel like cooking. Traffic is noisy at peak hours but it wasn't too bad during off-peak. Thank you, Morris, for taking care of us during our stay.

What a great stay! Nice and private - the ocean view and sunrises were perfect! The porch and outdoor eating spaces were awesome. The house was clean and had everything we could think of that we’d need. And that pool was pretty snazzy, too! Everything was just perfect.

Our family very much enjoyed our stay. The house was clean, spacious and came equipped with everything our family needed for a comfortable stay. The property itself was breathtaking, with tranquil and serene views. Honestly I could have stayed there forever! Tisiphonie was very responsive and helpful, an all around great host! Highly recommend!

Wendy’s place was welcoming and comfortable. The grounds were beautiful with all sorts of wonderful creatures. The outdoor area was a great place to hang out and Mango the cat was a delightful treat. I would definitely recommend Wendy’s place.

Gina’s place was a little out of Keanau stores but this is what we wanted. Very easy to get to with a car. It was spacious and comfortable. We each had our own bedroom and the decks were very relaxing! A very well stocked kitchen and the tub in the bathroom was luxurious! Having a washer and dryer was really helpful. We loved being on the east coast. Lots to do and we explored the north east coast southern east coast and the south and west coasts. We would highly recommend Gina’s place.

Scott was a great host and we couldn’t be more grateful! He thought of everything and was proactive in asking us the next day if there was anything we needed or if anything was amiss, which was greatly appreciated. The unit is comfortable, spacious, and very clean. The views of the ocean and the morning breeze from the lenai are definitely a highlight! We loved our stay and most definitely would recommend!

We cannot say enough positive things about Tulpe as a wonderfully kind, responsive host. The location is convenient & quiet/peaceful. Check in & out as well as all communication was incredibly smooth. Everything is as pictured, very clean, & has everything you’d need. Highly recommend a stay here. :)

The unit was exactly as described and photographed. It was clean, tidy, and the heated blanket and space heater were very appreciated. The unit was easy to find, with a smooth check-in process; having a designated parking spot was also great. It was the perfect base camp for us to go to the Volcano National Park.

Lovely home, lovely hosts! Love this side of the island for multiple trips to Volcanoes NP. Grateful to share a delicious meal with Joy and Michael during our stay.

This was a perfect place to stay in Hilo. It is near the old downtown and the famous Hilo market. The apartment has many artistic touches which makes it very homey. Anthony had lots of recommendations about where to eat and what to see. We really enjoyed Hilo and the area surrounding it. Take the drive up to the Mauna Kea Visitor Center for sunset--so worth it. As others have noted, the ceilings are low so if you are tall, look for another place. This wasn't a problem for us.

Wow! What an impeccable retreat! We arrived last minute and they were still accommodating. They gave us recommendations after we asked many questions and the place is just so perfect, perfectly clean, and easily accessible to Hilo and surrounding areas! We would definitely stay here again.

i will remember my Hilo experience forever because of your house! It’s like living in heaven! Love the birds singing! (I never heard bird sounds like this, it has echoes! Want to know the name of the bird;). The modeling of the living area is impressive! Finally want to give extra star to the hot tub! It’s amazing to enjoy it especially when it’s raining! I’ll def come back!!

Awesome place and responsive host. Right on Carl Smith Beach Park, which is beautiful. Balcony is screened which cuts down on bugs, place and was super clean with thoughtful beach supplies that made our stay much more comfortable.

Great place, literally paces from a BEAUTIFUL lagoon and beach filled with turtles and fish. Nice quiet road dotted with 4 or 5 beaches/parks, and about a 3 mile drive to the shops/grocery stores to keep the kitchen stocked. Also had a French press so we could enjoy our fresh Kona coffee every day.

I was there with my boyfriend for the week. The location was great! Within walking distance g distance to great restaurants and the best farmers market I’ve ever been to. The views are absolutely stunning. Watching the sunrise in the morning was so beautiful. We felt right at home. I would definitely stay there again! Thank you so much Carla and Joe! It was a little slice of heaven there.

The Hilotown Condo was exactly what we expected plus a bit more... great location on the park with a very nice view of the park and even a bit of the ocean, was clean and well kept, plus had all the amenities. We especially enjoyed the lanai, dreamy bed and A/C! The condo is very close to Coconut Island and the Japanese/Liki'uokalani Gardens which we loved. Shae was very prompt with check-in/out questions. Thank you so much for hosting us! We will return hopefully sometime very soon.

Our stay at Carrie’s place was exactly what we wanted. A beautiful patio that overlooks the bay with amazing sunrise views, visiting birds, and comfy deck furniture and hammock. The space was updated with wood floor, large windows and a spacious bathroom. Hugh and Carrie were helpful, even providing duct tape for hiking boots that gave out at Volcanoes National Park!

Lovely and spacious for my 3 month stay for work. All the amenities that I needed for cooking and cleaning, communal laundry in bldg, good wifi coverage. Safe and walkable to downtown which I loved. Small amount of noise with neighbours and ants/insects which are expected to some degree being in an apt bldg, in the tropics. I would definitely stay there again:)

Lovely room with luxurious bedding. The kitchenette with full-sized refrigerator was wonderful.

I have stayed in a lot of Airbnb accommodations. This condo is the best. It it's perfect for one or two people it they aren't sharing beds. I love sitting on the balcony and watching the waves. I have been here multiple times and I am very comfortable here. Restaurants, market, and beaches are close and easy to access. I love staying here. Thank you!
