Welcome to our brand new Villa Sawah (meaning "rice field" in indonesian). This handcrafted sanctuary offers a cosy, intimate retreat with a small indoor pool overlooking working rice fields.
Designed and built with love, it provides an authentic, serene Balinese escape.
Nestled directly in nature, you may cross paths with local wildlife (ants, insects, and geckos are a natural part of the environment). If you prefer a highly urbanised setting, this may not be the perfect fit for you.
The space
The Mezzanine bedroom has Air Con and a SUPER king size double beds (2m x 2m) with one sofa bed downstairs if required.
You will have private access to all the house and its facilities including your own indoor pool.
The villa has car access up to the front door of the villa.
Our staff will serve you a delicious breakfasts including fresh local fruit, eggs, pancake, bread, butter, jam, milk, coffee and tea.
at your convenience we maintain the villa and the pool.
We (Pak Darma, April, Rika, Lucky, Pak Made, and Ibu Jero) are usually present at the villa to welcome you as we live close by. We try to be as discrete as possible when servicing your rooms. However we are more than happy to interact with you and share our local knowledge to guide you in organising your daily activities.
We love to help you by all means to make your stay the most enjoyable experience.
Villa Sawah is nested among nature and rice fields.
We are located just outside Ubud and amidst rice paddies on the sunrise and sunset side. In the morning you will see the local villagers taking care of their rice fields, cutting grass for their cattle. You may be lucky to spot the squirrels living in the tropical forest on the southern side jumping from tree to tree in quest of a breakfast. From Ubud you are well located to make your day as busy or relaxed as you wish. You may would like to experience, the local ceremonies, temples, elephant ride, rafting, biking, rice field walks, volcano tours, shopping and local art, yoga and massage etc ...
Access to Ubud centre is 8 minutes away by car. Close enough to have quick access to first class restaurants and distant enough to have peace on your own.
Access by car/minibus up to the Villa's front door.
We can drop and pick you up there for 100k Rp per trip.
Prior to your arrival we can organize rental for scooters (100k Rp/day),
- MASSAGE
We are in contact with massage therapists and call them on demand. They use the pool chair to massage you at the villa. Price 150k Rp/hour
- BREAKFAST:
We supply and prepare breakfast for you, including : local fresh fruits, eggs, bread, butter, jam, coffee, tea and milk.
For an additional small cost, we can also prepare crepes or a traditional Balinese breakfast.
We also provide drinking water in the kitchen (Mineral water on a fountain)

The bedroom is equipped with AIR CONDITIONERS.

Other things to note
The villa is not located in Ubud City, we are located in the countryside, outer suburbs of the Ubud region ; It is approximately a 10-15 minute drive into town. If you wish to travel into Ubud, we recommend hiring a driver to take you by car or you can hire a scooter during your stay, which can be arrange for you. If you want to be closer to shops, cafes and restaurants and wish to be in walking distance to amenities such as these, this villa is not suitable for you and suggest booking a villa in the Ubud Centre.
This treehouse is elevated. It includes a rope bridge to the entrance door, steep rail-less stairs to the second storey, open pool and a high drop from the pool’s edge. Due to the quirky characteristics of this home, we recommend that this villa is not suitable for children or persons not able-bodied.
Situated amongst the jungle, rice fields and farm lands, there will be without a doubt, INSECTS, ants, MOSQUITOES and LIZARDS IN the property. We try our best to keep the house clean, however choosing to live so close to nature with a SEMI OPENED home, you will be exposed to the elements and sometimes it is difficult to avoid it. Please be aware that at night the wildlife comes alive and for some people the sounds of nature are too loud. However if you are a light sleeper you will need to bring an ear plug, THIS IS SOMETHING YOU NEED TO CONSIDER WHEN BOOKING THIS VILLA.
Cahaya is located on a property with surrounding villa’s. All of our villa’s are private but because they are in close proximity to other guests, we ask that house rules are respected at all times and no loud noises after 10pm.
